Rotating Symmetry Node plane?

Recommended Posts

Hi, i just bought KSP and started playing it after not being able to succesfully land on the mun in the demo (kept running out of fuel). So I just bought the game and I am having problems with the construction of ONE ship. When ever I place a piece and ask the Symmetry node to duplicate it all around, it places the duplicates vertically. I tried the "W,A,S,D,E", but they rotate the pieces individually rather than the plane they are fixed upon. I can guess I probably hit the wrong button somewhere along the way, but I already ran through my entire keyboard, and apparently nothing reversed the process. Help

Here are two images of what occurs.

Symmetry relies on the orientation of your first placed part. Symmetry can also get messed up eventually once you move out onto radially attached parts that weren't placed onto the center stack with symmetry.

You can try rotating your entire build so that your first placed part is facing upward, then place your symmetry parts and rotate the whole build back to whatever launch orientation you want. Be aware that if your first part was a probecore/pod your control facing will be offset from your launch facing.
