KSP: First Contact, a post-it found on the corkboard at the kerbal astronaut complex.

Recommended Posts

Grand News! The first working antennae have received alien signals from Laythe! Strong consensus is that an extra-kerbol civilization has established an outpost on Jool's innermost satellite. Now whether they are trying to order take-out or contact their home is left up to debate, but there is a push for volunteers to organize a mission to Laythe to make first contact. Jeb is disqualified as Bob has him tied up in the janitor's closet. Thanks, Bob.

We need a craft worthy to make the journey to Laythe and return on its own power, but it must look completely harmless and friendly to the beings as possible. So, thinking 'What Wouldn't Jeb Do?' is a good first start. Our experts agree that curves and nothing sharp or looking remotely unsafe is the way to go.

Please submit your designs with launch stage and how it would appear upon landing upon Laythe within the week in the cardboard box labelled 'First Contact submissions.'

Jeb here: Screw that noise. Any civilization that can land in our system is worthy of a grand show of respect and power. If you feel that sharp corners and pointy bits are the way to go, and have a willingness to land with exposed nuclear cores and solid rocket boosters, then submit your entry to the other box labelled: 'Welcome to our world, space cadet!' I will put in an extra word with the mission commander who will pilot the craft, himself. I have it on good authority that he is a cool frood and is always good on his word.

You've done well on the flavor text, but everything else is missing. Rules or guidelines, are mods allowed or not, is debug menu allowed or not, are any parts disallowed straight out, how do players compete against eachother ie how is this scored, is this purely a design challenge and not an actual flight challenge, etc etc etc.
