Propellor plane megathread (stock)

Recommended Posts

To get something to rotate in Kerbal in a fixed frame or structure, you have to have several landing gear pressing against a tank. It has been done already but not for propellers yet. The best way to build the rotating structure in in the VAB. Before or after, you could build the rest in the SPH.

Making one that is able to even move at speed would be hard. Getting it to fly is another matter entirely.

You'd have to make it huge, with more than 1 propeller pulling it along. It would also have to be light, and with as little drag as possible. If we had computer programs to build optimal designs it would be possible, but I think it's effectively impossible to do without a lot of time and hard work.

Something that would probably work to get some serious thrust is to have a central shaft turning, with a million angled airfoils on it, kind of like an axial flow turbojet.
