Just had a troubling thought, I am going to have to build a duplicate of I.S.S. Red Dwarf to go to Duna.

You don't need THAT much fuel to get to Duna. You should be able to do it using about three orange tanks of fuel for a three Kerbal mission.

I sent a probe satellite with four detachable probe rovers to Duna with less fuel and/or rockets than I was expecting. It was pretty good. Of course, that was just the once and it was quite a while ago...I haven't really been playing much KSP lately. Too excited for career updates in the next couple patches

I had to do 3 trips to LKO for my rocket to Duna as I wasn't sure how much fuel I would need, had just finished when I accidentally hit space bar and decoupled the capsule, I wasn't best pleased at the time haha

My recent Duna mission involved a service module with three Nuke engines for the transit on a single regular rockomax tank and three double-sized smaller tanks for a bit extra. Even with the extra thrust, I had more than enough fuel for a return trip to Kerbin, but had only placed a decoupler, making that module useless after removing the lander. I fully expected to almost empty that stage and I would send a second mission to refuel the lander in orbit which should have been enough for the return. Oops.
