Yes, but what he said was that, without budgets. I'd do some file editing, and turn my main save into a career mode save to do science, but not sure how sudenly having to pay for things would effect things already happening.

I'm hoping set missions are never a thing, just a sensible achievement system, and budget and technical limitations that add realistic limits to what you can achieve at first.

I'm pretty sure it will break it if you have mods. I'm hoping it wont screw up my vanilla game (no mods)

It's my understanding that this is exactly what it will be. Anyone expecting more will probably be disappointed.

I expect sandbox with science but no budget could be achieved by altering your balance in the persistence file. Just give yourself a bajillion Kerbal dollars or kronors or pfennigs or whatever.

Actually I heard that you will be given contracts that you can choose or deny, but besides that you have free reign.

I was wondering what the trend was in releases. I'm kind of OCD about some things like this.

Squad have announced that .22 will not break any savegames, as all games are saved as sandbox

It really is semantics at this point. Your save will be ok but there will be a `proper` save in addition to the sandbox one you currently have.

So, no the save will not be broken but also, no you will not carry it on in actuality and it will probably die as you will play the `proper` game more.

Why is career mode the 'proper' game, it's just a different mode? I think I will stay with my current sandbox save as my 'main', because want to keep using ALL THE PARTS (and lots of mod parts, which will take time to adapt to the tech tree).

Which brings up a thought: A certain amount of players will HAVE to switch to career mode - as alpha testers, there must not be to few as everyone plays differently and the survival and future sandbox depends on a successful product as a whole too.

I may do that, but depends on weather it is practical to create a career mode save from current my main save, with a bit of file editing. Also depends on how appealing tallying science points is.

There's a lot I'd like to do in it before I let it be broken.

Though there hasn't been much news on budget and coatings, money may not be in the next update.
