Base on Duna,Eeloo or Dres?

Recommended Posts

I'm tired of planting flags with one man module.I want to build bases now.

And I'm just not sure what planet to choose.

I like Duna because of it's red surface and white ice caps.

I like Eeloo 'cause it's white and so...

And Dres...It's a simple planet :o.

By the way,can you post some designs of your bases? (I ran out of ideas :/)

EDIT: My base will have some kind of a little Ion rc plane to fly around with a kerbal, and a rover to ride around ^^

Duna is easy to get to. Dres is crazy inclined, and Eeloo is way far away.

Why not all three?

I don't have much time now.I'm actually planning to make bases and space stations round around all planets.(Maybe next year ^^).

I didn't have any problem to get to dres though...

Duna you can do a mostly unpowered landing and is easy encounter.

I'll take it into account (forgot about chutes :P)

I see you built a base on duna, can you show me some pics? :)

At school and filter blocks my imageshack. I'll edit this post in an hour when I am home and am not fighting the web filter. I used the HOME mod and it was really just an outpost. I suggest reading Temstar's tutorial on modular bases. I will provide a link later.

Thanks alot ^^

just go to Duna, for these reasons:

1. Easier to get.

2. you'll have more fuel left, also if you want for return missions.

3. it's just more fun, red planet, big Ice caps as you mentioned.

4. has some easter eggs, also some high mountains ( 7km )

5. Takes a lil' bit of time, unlike Eeloo and dres, which are further and inclined.

You'll enjoy, just take it easy, don't rush things, I will post my base designs later.

As I promised, the link to Temstar's awesome modular base guide.

And some eye candy with some quick little HOME outposts I use. Note, HOME was recently updated but if memory serves, I still had to manually change the SAS components and pod over to the .21 system.

All packed up in he VAB:

And of course, the obligatory pic of it on Duna:

Duna is easy to establish a base on thanks to the planet's atmosphere. I've got the building blocks of a larger base all ready on Duna at this moment.

The automated living modules arrived together on the same craft, and were undocked then allowed to slowly float down to the surface of Duna from a altitude of more then 5 km.

The Home module was delivered to Duna separately, and acts as the command center for Duna Operation's.

Haven't made the journey to Eeloo or Dres yet using stock spacecraft. But I do intend to take advantage of the next transfer window for both of them.
