More Structural Fuselage Sizes

Recommended Posts

One very useful piece for craft design is the 1.25m structural fuselage. It allows designs to have more visual mass without having to add heavy fuel tanks. The problem is that it only comes in one size.

My simple suggestion would be to add a variety of structural fuselages that come in the different fuel-tank sizes for both 1.25m and 2.5m parts. So essentially, there would be a structural fuselage counterpart to each fuel tank currently in-game. This would add a lot of versatility to rocket designs for aesthetic and functional purposes. It would also be fairly easy to implement, because they're just cylinders.

Hey, I just navigated to the board a second ago to make this exact suggestion. I too use the 1.25m radial attachment point and structural fuselage parts a whole lot while building, and I would really like to be able to make some 2.5m things such as large roving tankers and space station modules that aren't purely shaped and sized based on the parts that have a specific utility - padding is extremely useful in some cases. Also on my wish list: 1.25 fuselages as long as the 90-unit and 45-unit fuel tanks. This must be one of the easiest part sets to model and implement in the game, since they literally do nothing except snap on to something else.

screw aesthetics, I want these because I want to use just one part to extend my rocket, not fifteen combined girders and struts that will buckle in a stiff wind. I want small, medium, and large mount structural fuselage cylinders in three or four length options each! :D

I'd prefer procedural parts to fill the gaps. There is a reason NASA stuff tends to be hand made.

Procedural:

Fuel Tanks

Girders

Structural Elements

Wings

Fairings

Parachutes

Landing Legs

Wheels

Ladders

Docking Ports

Bi-Tri-Quad Adapters

Batteries

All would be AMAZING to get JUST that part you need.

I agree with the idea and would like to see those parts followed by some kind of retractable/flexable girders and joints, so that the payload at the top of the rocket can hold everything in tight place and then spread it like wings in the orbit.

More structural fuselages means more clutter in the payload.

Although i support the main idea i wuld like to point you at the "What not to suggest list".

The list only covers general requests for more parts. My request is specific, so I think it's an acceptable suggestion.

Procedural parts would cover this, I suppose.

Actually when you read it it is pretty vauge and open ended •New parts** I would presume that the request for structural fuselage sizes falls under the catagory of a part or parts. However if your interested in additional parts there are mods out there that provide plenty of parts for KSP.

** this means no general 'more parts' threads. If you have specific ideas feel free to post them.

Suggesting specific parts is fine.

On topic, I agree with you that more structural fuselage sizes would be helpful. I personally would like to see 2.5 metre ones for space stations.
