Welcome to

THE ULTIMATE AVIATION CHALLENGE 2

As a follow on from Sordid\'s amazing ultimate aviation challenge*, this new one takes that challenge and turns it on its head.

The challenge is to fly around the world with these rules in place.

RULES

1. All planes must not use RCS, ASAS and SAS throughout the flight.

2. All planes must not go any higher that 10,000m.

3. Pilots/Builders are allowed to collaborate.

4. Pictures of the craft must be taken at 5 points, Take off, At altitude, during decent, at landing and on the end of flight screen.

5. .CRAFT file must be inculded.

6. Parts in stock, Silisko Edition, Novapunch and C7 are allowed, no cheat parts will be allowed. Home modded parts will be looked at by me.

7. The craft must land without parachute assistance. Only on the ground will it be allowed to use parachutes

8. No explotation glitches (I.E. Flying turbine).

Around Kerbin?

How long do you expect that to take? I\'m not sure many people will go for this.

e: I don\'t think OP really thought this through. No way are you getting that much fuel up there and like hell anyone is going to want to fly the number of hours required.

...

10 to 12 hours of manual plane control?!

I\'m not in it.

What\'s your entry? :3

I am working on it. But I need a more powerful computer to run it.

Time to see if the Magic Turbine works with Mk2 parts.

It follows Rule One and Seven. :P

And makes 1,070m/s at 5,000 meters.

With no engine. Literally. (After takeoff). =P

it is the ultimate aviation challenge. Its not suppose to be easy. But I have not specified that the engine must be running throughout the flight. People have already flown around the world. All I want to find out is if someone can do it without ASAS and RCS and timewarp, because in real life, there is nothing call timewarp.

But in real life we have such a thing as autopilot so you can go make a sandwich while flying around the world.

I actually expect it won\'t take anywhere near as long as people think... My very first airplane in this game made it halfway across Kerfrica - with the throttle barely cracked open, so moving slow - in something like twenty minutes.

Think I might try this one.

Edit: would it really hurt anything to allow time compression, though? At the altitude you\'ve specified, you can\'t go past x2 anyway.

I am discouraged. :(

I got slightly less than halfway around Kerbin at 8000m, and had well more than half my fuel remaining. So I\'m sure my plane has the range to meet this challenge.

I paused the game and tried to alt+tab out for a few minutes. The game crashed. Progress lost.

Now I\'m thinking I\'ll wait until we have some kind of persistence working before trying this again.
