I think that glitches like these just add to the fun you can have in this game. It just makes me giggle when it's Jeb who seems to get the worst of it (and yeah, it is Jeb that is missing his body in this picture).

Jeb is currently bouncing around the Center of the Mun and there is no rescue possible... Where is Arne Saknussemm when you need him? Oh yeah... DEAD!

I've had this happen to Bill. I switched to another Kerbal on the surface and Bill reappeared beside him, then immediately "spread his spores". I flew home without him. When I next got in the VAB, there he was again like nothing had happened.

My case, like yours, involved trying to step off a ladder. Ladders IMHO are the single most dangerous parts you can add to your ship. Periodically, the Kerbal falls through the ground like this, seemingly from stepping onto a crack between 2 adjacent sections of planet surface. More commonly, however, they fall in a heap at the foot of the ladder and when they stand up, the push the lander over.

I'm beginning to think the best course is to replace ladders with hinged gangplanks .

Yeah, well, My Kerbals have a really good union... only, they call it a Kunion... I don't pay them much, just enough for motion sickness tablets...

Get used to it, I suspect if this game wants to REALLY be true to life, then like the parts, hiring kerbalnaughts will involve an annual cost, the less stupid, the more brave... the higher the salary that must be paid... I think I'd really like to see that, winning a budget and having to manage it ... maybe even one day, a sub game game, where budgets are tight and you need to haggle with kerbals and part makers....

Anyone can go anywhere but at what cost?

I actually expected Jeb to end up stuck in the middle of the Mun but I found that he ended out going out the other side of the planetoid... and while in mid-space he was still labelled as "Landed".

Ummm... I had a really freaky one where I EVAed a Kerbal, and he DIDN'T HAVE A FACE. Just eyeballs and teeth suspended in EMPTY SPACE. I was like... umm... now we know what the rest of the Kerbals have been eating during the trip out here.... either that, or there is something to said about that old expression about nothing being left but teeth and eyeballs. Maybe that Kerbal was in one too many rocket explosions.

I made him go back inside, when he came back out, he had a face again.
