Reviving Kerbals

So, when I started playing KSP some months ago, I crashed a lot of times (obviusly), and I lost Jeb, Bill and Bob.

Can I get them back to my Space Program? Or the only solution is to start a new one?

They respawn.

Note, though: only those three will eventually respawn. Any other kerbal you lose you lose for good.

They have never respawned, and several months have passed since the catastrophe... Is any alternative method?

You can indeed wait it out, but Field Dynamics uses Black Magicâ„¢ when high profile Kerbals need resuscitation!

The persistance file under the "Saves" folder for your game can be read with any .txt reader. Select "Open With" to open your file. You'll have to do some major digging to find your crew roster, but once you've confirmed you're at the roster, copy/paste the Bill,Jeb, and Bob stats from a fresh save, and they'll reappear for duty!

I also use this to 're-recruit' hero kerbals from previous versions, i copy another crew file, paste it, and then change the courage and stupidity values as i see fit. It's a good way to bring back a favorite cast of space pioneers and legends to your game, and i find it very immersive to have legendary Kerbals.

NOTE: Field Dynamics does not resume any responsibility in the event of a zombie Kerbal uprising.

Or just hit ctrl+f and type in roster. Then just set their state to zero.

They were not even in the save file, so I could not change their state.

And I tried adding them manually as Dynamo said, it worked, but now all my ships are empty, all kerbonauts returned home somehow.

Ill have to fill of kerbals my space station again!

PD: Maybe my save file is from an old version and it doesn't keep track of dead kerbals?

Sometimes someone died and some days after they wouldn't appear in the "Lost" tab in the Crew Center...

Just haaxor'd mine and Jeb says he feels fine. Also have a new entry who's name is starting with the letter K. Just need to change his graphics now ...

Be very careful when editing the save file, do a backup, mine got bugged and they (kerbals) just appeared and disappeared when changing control of ships.
