How do you switch craft while flying?

One of the most wanted thing I want to do is fly two crafts.I've seen youtubers do this,having a plane flying straight while another on ground.The planes engine is on and I have no Idea how people do it.Anyone care to to answer? FYI : I know how to [ ] and switch too but I cant switch while flying but yet others can.

You use the left [ and right ] keys to switch between crafts.

You can switch your currently selected craft by using the '[' and the ']' keys. You need to be quite close for this to work and it will also cycle through some parts and any stray Kerbals wandering around too.

It's very useful if you have a rover attached to a lander and you land on a slope, instead of releasing the rover and watching it roll miles down a hill you release, press '[' and hit the brakes. Job done.

For vehicles that are not very close to each other (and so you get an error message when you use [ and ] ), go to the map view and right-click the vehicle you want to control and select from there.

Any distance away from 2.5km, the other non-focus craft will be 'gone'...so be careful. If the craft are manned, the mission control will show...MIA (Missing in Action), Just fyi if you wonder.

On a German QWERTZ-Keyboard it is "ß" and "´" - On Default it is the 2 Keys next to Backspace.

BTW. in Mapview you can Switch vom Planet to Planet (and Moon) with TAB and Shift+TAB to cycle backwards.

You guys seriously dont know what I mean ( No offence ). I mean everytime I fly an aircraft and I would like to switch to another,it just say "cant switch while in atmosphere".Other youtubers somehow can and I am just really confused right now

Oops. I have a habit of building all my craft with RGU's, even if they have cockpits.

You have to be somewhat close to the craft you want to switch to. [ and ] keys will switch crafts.

Although this is an old thread, the trick is being no more than about 300m away to switch while flying.

Just incase your still confused about what to do, on your keyboard tap. the "[" to go left and "]" to go right with the vessels.

Uh, as a BDA player, I have a solution. BDA has a Vessel switcher function, it allows you to switch from vessels easily. All you need to do is put a weapon manager on your vessel.
