Google chrome problem, need help.

I know, this is the KSP forums, not the google forums, but I'm having a problem.

So recently, my google chrome was acting up, being slow. So I cleared cookies. Didn't help, but about an hour later it worked fine anyway. Idk.

To the point, due to clearing cookies, I went to sign in to google again. However, whenever I click the sign on button on youtube or gmail, it simply says "connecting" and then says webpage not available. Help?

Two things: check your internet connection and make sure it's not acting up. Your router could simply be encountering problems, usually restarting it can do the job.

Second, you better run a virus scan, it's unlikely, but there's a slight chance that could be slowing you down considerably.

It may be an add-on or an extension that's acting up. Chrome recently did an overhaul. Make sure all add-ons and extensions are current. You may have to uninstall the add-ons and then re-install them one at a time to find the culprit.

Google, that is what.

I don't disagree, I've long figured Google is the new Microsoft, albeit ostensibly 'not evil'. If that's your issue, the chromium browser is worth a mention too (http://www.chromium.org/).

I'd be concerned about what malwarebytes is throwing up, but it's probably not the cause of your issue. For the sake of argument, if I'm running a keylogger on your PC, I have little interest in causing issues with your browsing.

If it's happening across browsers it's unlikely to be an issue with the browser either. I'd suggest running traceroute if the problem re-occurs. Odds are, I'd reckon a router somewhere along the line is going down.

Causes for slow Chrome off the top of my head.

What happens when you open a website from your pc.

CPU -> RAM -> Disk/Cache -> Drivers / Operating system -> Network Adapter -> Network -> Internet

A) Slow computer in general

Check cpu usage in task manager. enable the option to see processes from all users. which process is slowing down the system if present. If your system is bugged by spyware and your OS/anti virus is unsuccessful in cleaning it, you need to take action.

B) Slow chrome

check other browsers (but you said it was the same on all browsers, so ignore this step)

I really like Chrome. I understand the concerns that Google has too much power but I can objectively say they made a powerful browser that works. Firefox is very outdated and they stopped trying since 2010... IMO.

C) Slow network layer / Internet

ping the website you want to reach, other websites:

-if it seems faster than the response you get from your browser, check for a cause at a higher level.

-if there is a slow/erratic response (timeouts), consider a network architecture cause

-if the problem is coming and going, consider a cause from your ISP

Solutions include:

-changing DNS to any/all of the following reliable (I do this on all my PCs)

8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 (google)

208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 (opendns)

-kick your ISP in the balls
