I did miss the image with the pe and ap but it was 81k x 70k

Not bad for my first successful challenge. I really think with further tweaks I could do more. I had 10L of liquid fuel that i burned off just before landing.. didn't help save the craft though

oh cool there's a challenge for this;

Here's my entry; Made an orbit of 112x177km (ok not exactly circular but its about 100km) and survived re-entry and landing. Only thing was the main engine broke on touch down.

Achieve a stable Low Kerbin Orbit (Periapsis 70km+) with one Kerbal: +20 points

Achieve a stable High Kerbin Orbit (Periapsis 100km+) with one Kerbal: +15 points

Successful reentry to Kerbin atmosphere: +5 points

Pilot(s) survives return journey: +10 points

Additional awards:

Mk1 Decoupler (External Combustion Engine) - simulate staging by using an upper stage rocket to destroy a lower stage.

= 50 points

(in a previous attempt I managed to land without destroying the craft and with some reserve fuel, but I didn't record that attempt so, whatever!)

btw how come the low orbit gets 20 points but the high gets 15? or if you get high do you also get the low points?

You know what's really cool about this. With such a limited set of parts you might expect that everyone's solution would be pretty much the same. I did see one that was almost identical to mine but actually most entries here are pretty much unique. Go go community creativity!!

I posted this one on a different forum, but it still applies:

You're overcomplicating if all you want is an orbit.

Remember, in rocketry less is more.

Meet the dongrocket:

Plotting gentle return:

Can't see a thing out here...

Wait, what's that?

..ooh. Pretty.

Getting lightly done:

Bit of a powered descent:

Touchdown!

And mission accomplished.

So it's a lot easier than you think - at least if you've already played the game for a while. ^_^

In other news, this forum really needs spoiler tags.
