Slowing down time

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to slow down the time in KSP?

I'm asking because i've (as have many :P ) experienced lagg when my part counts goes into the 3-400+, and since i've got a pretty decent graphichs card, and the fact that it's a stuttering lagg instead of persistent low fps, i'll assume it's an issue with cpu calculating physics.

So, i was thinking that, if you could slow down the time in the game, you'd give the cpu more time for the calculations, giving a smoother fps.

So, is there are way? is my idea stupid? or is it not possible? :)

On the first settings screen is the delta time slider, if you reduce the value of the delta time, KSP will slow instead of judder when under heavy physics load.

Values below 0.03 are best avoided though as the lower the setting, the less accurate the physics can become.

The UI doesn't let you get below 0.03, but why would it get less accurate with smaller timesteps? Normally the accuracy asymptotes to exactness as the timestep falls.

Counterintuitive, but with all the other errors I've seen, not surprising.

If you fly the albatross stock airplane at more than 1x, the wings deflect a lot more. This is not a matter of accuracy, this is a bug in the physics model. Something is not correctly accounting for time step.

From what i can see, Physics delta time adjusts the time the game has for making physics calculations, it does not slow down time, it just reduces quality of physics thus reducing lagg.

I want to slow the actual time down ;)

Like, Time Dilation in EvE Online for those of you that play that game.
