Is there a bird problem at the KSC?

Chirps are constantly played on a loop through hidden stereos. This is to annoy engineers so that good rockets are not produced. I think.

They're rushing to get away from the constant chirping that has driven them crazy. As a result, they don't do the math and the result is firecrackers..ehm...failed launches.

Don't be silly, those aren't birds. That's the sound of the mission control supercomputer's cooling system. All those Kerbals running the foosball tables get pretty toasty if they turn the ventilation fans off, and nobody has time to repair them even if they could spare the loss of productivity to have them all clear out for half an hour to oil the fans.

Shouldn’t there be owls at night? or Kowls?

No. You see, we already know that all Kerbonauts are simply imperfect clones of Jebediah; that's why they look just like him, but don't have his pure awesomeness. The implications are obvious: all lifeforms on Kerbin are offshoots of the main Kerman race, clones adapted for various ecological niches. Obviously, a nuclear war wiped out all life on the planet, and it was recolonized from the few Kerbs who'd been in orbit at the time, which explains the focus on repeated space flights no matter the cost. Therefore, those "birds" are miniature, devolved copies of Jeb living in the trees. Like Jeb, they're just as active at night as they would be in the day, because as we all know, Jeb doesn't require sleep, food, or even air.

(Why yes, I DID just read The Mote in God's Eye.)

The birds are very small and flightless. They possess the appearance of a Chick. They are constantly hiding in the cracks and crevices of the VAB and SPH from the rockets that have accidentally killed off quite a few of their species. They chirp so often to warn others to avoid the KSC. They also aren't very bright, as they only accept warnings from one another rather than taking a hint form the explosions and craters everywhere.
