Raise up entire assembly in the VAB - can't grab it to move????

I've done this lots, grab the control module, or command capsule, and the whole multi-stage rocket assembly moves up or down on the mouse wheel.

I now have an assembly that I can not move up or down, no matter where I grab.

The solution:

Save a copy of your design. Open the .craft file you saved with a text editor, to find the FIRST part you put down. That is the one you have to grab, to move the whole assembly.

Hopefully, you can still see it in there, behind all the boosters :-)

Shift+LeftClick any part to grab the whole craft and move it as usual.

OR just click the command pod (the very first part you placed for the ship). Then you can move the whole thing around with the mouse, or up and down with the mouse wheel.

Seems to bug out after a hundred meters of this, but this certainly helps for making very tall spacecraft.
