The nature of Kerbal Science...

With the impending release of .22, the forum is (rightly) buzzing with speculation and excitement. What I want to know is why are the Kerbals suddenly doing science? What is "goo" anyway? Why subject it to so many different conditions and then meticulously record the results?

I like the think it was the result of boredom.

Wehrner Von Kerman is going through the line in the cafeteria and looks at lunch with disgust. "Goo? Again? C'mon guys can't you figure out something to make this stuff taste good? You've boiled it, baked it, sauteed it, fried it, roasted it, toasted it, steamed it, microwaved it (that was a mess), and thrown it in a Krock pot. No matter what you do, it still tastes like ... well ... goo! We might as well put it on a rocket and send it into orbit!" ... at which point he gets a funny look on his face and runs back to his lab with his lunch.

Kerbal science is born!

What do YOU think goo is? How do YOU think Kerbal science was created?

I think with total absence of relative relativity, Prof. Dr. Keinstein, a good friend of Von Kerman, did prove that relative experimental goo relativity experiments in relative low-g environment where relative easy to accomplish with relative rocketry. Hence, in a relative relationless moment of something relative, Prof. Dr. Keinstein smuggled goo onto a relative experimental rocket to do some relativity related experiments. It was relatively obvious, that from then on, relative science was relatively born.

Goo is a reprocessed waste product from jell-o factories. Kerbin Greenpeace opposed dumping it en-masse in oceans, so bigwigs at KSC brokered a deal with ekologists. KSC will send goo into space, and Greenpeace will stop pushing for banning NERVA's and RTG use. Too bad tree-huggers were too happy with the deal to thoroughly check fine print at the end of the page. There was not a word about actually LEAVING the goo in space forever...hehehehe.

I thought Keinstein and Von Kerman were relatives.

One Day, Wehrner Von Kerman said: Bill! There ist some Goo on ze floor! (the goo is what kerbals call, GreenMegaKhel, that can only be destroyed by rocket fuel explosions/eating it.)

Bill had to dispose of the "Mystery" goo.... so he asked Bob what to do. Bob said throw it away. But when bob got to the trash cans...

It was FULL

So, Bob asked Jeb. Jeb said...

I'll put it in this container and put it on the mun. then tell the next mun lander to Land on it, and place a small tiny fuel tank on the bottom of that leg.)

However, when the Mechjeb was not updated for 0.22, (and missed the mun and launched him in a Sun orbit) Jeb took the canister and opened it...

he said in his radio...

Whoa! what is it doing???

Thus, the Goo canister was born.

Odd Story...

That is the best idea I have herd so far. Maybe the mysterious "snacks" are more goo?
