Probably the best sr-71 blackbird made so far

Recommended Posts

Awesome work. I think the title does hold up to the entry here, i've not seen a closer representation yet, as many attempts are 'whitebirds'. How did you get that color? Did you reskin the part?

I think he just put a ton of the fuel fuselages and flipped them upside down. Needless to say, it's more than enough fuel to get from point A to point B.

Or stupid levels of intake spam. Meaning functional at 60k+. Not a bad thing mind you, the real deal flew at the edge of space.

Finally added most of the struts needed to keep it from bending and falling apart upon launch, i still feel like it needs more because the startup is very shaky and often leads to swirving all over the place and finally crashing.

Also replaced the standard jet engines for the spiked oxi/fuel engines, just to test the altitude and to make it easier to get it into the air.

What tommygun said is basically happening to me, if i try to startup on the runway, it either starts steering left/right violently or reaches the end of the strip and nosedives down into the ground, if i try starting it straigh up, it flies, BUT the nose keeps diving slowly down until im headed straight for the ground.

I've tried adding all the weight to the back and the lift to the front but that only makes it loop

like a maniac..

Any suggestions..?

Solved the problem i had before, but now i've encountered a new one. Whenever i have a successful start, after gaining about 100 meters the plane starts to yaw left, there is nothing i can do to counter this movement and it sends me spiraling into the ground, thoughts?

On they turning part just how much of your aircraft is basically wing cause that could be part of it.

I'd say 90% of the aircraft is pure wing power, but the problem seems to have fixed itself when i corrected the position of a winglet and added more weight to the front.

you going to do a endurance test? mine can circle kerbin 1 1/2 times

I didn't built it with the intent of flying long distances or having good handling, i simply wanted to make a plane as close to the sr-71 as possible in terms of looks, and to make it fly (even 10m above the ground would be a-ok as the complexity in the build and the amount of wings used made me think it was impossible to fly). Just reached 15000 meters with it at 300m/s, not really a world record, but it's basically enough for me. Will try with diffrent engines and try to make it go higher and faster, although when i reach 15k meters it slowly dips down and wont let me level.

lol, then you title needs slight tweak, if the thing is only going to look like sr-71

How so? Most Sr-71's here just cover the basic shape of the plane, with some basic wings, mk2 parts and winglets up front, some even offer alot worse performance than mine does.

I don't think my title needs any type of tweaking, or maybe i should just add "probably the best looking sr-71 blackbird made so far". Or i could just try to make this baby fly well, high and far.
