Contemplating installing a Linux partition for KSP-any advice

I'm thinking of installing a KSP Linux partition, so I can be free of 32-bit restrictions on memory. Any advice on distro etc? My PC setup is

i7-2700k OC to 4.5

GA-Z77X-UD3H MoBo.

GTX 670

12GB ram.

Also does MechJeb, KER, Deadly Reentry, FAR, et al work on Linux?

if you're coming from windows 8, try Unbuntu.

if 7 or lower, try Zorin OS(not technically linux, but built for windows users).

Gotcha thanks, and the popular mod packs(MechJeb, KER, KW, B9, etc), are all cool on Linux? I'll try Zorin if yes.

They should ALL be cool on Linux. Go for that Dual-Boot! I've got an Ubuntu install on here although I may switch to something smaller, as windows is gonna start winging with my lack of space. I've also used openSUSE on my 10 year old 11 inch laptop. Not bad. Although I switched to Ubuntu from their because, uh I don't know.
