Gn-22A Gunship

The Gn-22A is a next generation strike cruiser and escort ship. Its equipped with 4th generation armour and more efficient boost systems for considerably increased combat effectiveness.

So.. what does Gen 1-3 armor look like?

I think of it as

gen-1:Splatterings of plates here and there.

gen-2:Strips of armor branching from one point(EG:Vanguard)

gen-3:Armor branching from a low impact spine running along the ship.(EG:Bayonet)

gen-4:Armor shell branching from a high impact spine(EG:Drek mk14)

That's pretty much it :D Though 4th also isolates the fuel tanks from the spine to improve shock absorption. I technically class the Drek MK14 as 3rd gen armour but its got so much of it that its way more effective than the Gn-22 :P

My armor goes:

gen-1: Armor on fuel tank

gen-2: armor on fuel tank, double connectors

gen-3: armor on center truss.
