When I landed a kerbal by hand with no MJ on every body in the system about 4 weeks after playing the game for the first time...

When I had been docking for weeks before I discovered what RCS did.

I've gotten quite good at pinpoint landings on bodies without atmosphere. I can get within about 100 meters of a target without using much extra fuel.

I also can do landings at night without lights pretty reliably, although it is nerve racking and uses more fuel than normal. I actually landed one time and didn't realize for a second.

And I've been happily docking for as long as I can recall now. I'm actually getting good at docking unbalanced craft - specifically an orange tank with an RCS probe at one end only (good for reducing part counts).

I had a similar epiphany when I landed on the night side the first time. I realized that I didn't even need to look at the terrain to land, as long as it wasn't too steep!
