Why are the Mun Poles so hilly?

Wow, I've never been to the poles, but that looks really wild. Not sure what could cause that in space. Do the reports from there give any insights?

Not really, there was one report about some activities ( I don't really remember) under the surface.

The poles have been very hilly for a long time, but it would not surprise me if it wasn't made worse by the new terrain software.

Longitude lines all converge there, so I can see the terrain mesh (or whatever is the procedural equivalent is) getting squash together there or something similar.

Looks fun to try to land on.

Anyway, I recently took a stop at the south pole, and it wasn't jaggy like this at all (not the part I landed at, anyway). I wasn't that near the pole, but pretty close. It was nice, actually. Weirdly smooth, like some sort of lava flow had happened. Made for a nice sample.

Lost my first landing stage trying to set down up there. Thankfully my second landing stage recovered and shed the debris. Thank god for the KSP department of redundancy department. (yes, I do build landers on top of my landers. What of it? <.<)

It is because of the procedural Craters and I wish my English would be good enough to explain it.

The Terrain meshes and borderlines (check the Video in my Signature) are getting closer and closer to each other on the Poles as they are on the equator. So I guess that causes These steep cliffs and deep Valleys. Or it was absolutely planed by the defs.

Anyways, there is a Terrain mesh bug on the poles of almost every celestial Body in form of a perfect Pyramid (because of the Longitudes that run together in the poles) which causes funny gravitational glitches. You should check it out ;)

I was doing a mission on the Mun and noticed there were some tremors picked up by one of the instruments. Does this mean there is an active core and plate tectonics are making mountains?

No, it's just flavor text. There are no such things implemented in KPS, anywhere.

I love the munar poles (well the northern one, i havent been to the south) they are were i test rovers and pratice landing. Nothing like having to hover over the surface to go somewhere flat!

Actually i love the poles on kerbin too. Theres just something about having kerbol constantly on the horizon!

Hey, is that superdeep narrow crater on the mun's northern pole still there? IIRC that one was a glitch in 0.21, but I lost the coordinates so I can't check.

The steep deep crater is still at the Munar south pole. I crash landed Bill in there to check after .22 launched. After checking if science at the munar arch gave increased science first
