The upper left shield switch works for me.

Ohhgh! Are you a lickle fibber? Telling Porkies? Next you will be telling me the voices are real and that I really should sharpen the axe....

Edited addendum: Ohhhh I see it now! The little window you have to hurt your neck and zoom out to look through. Now that proves it.. NEVER listen to the voices!

The windshield switch actually opens the shield covering the upper window that's used for docking operations.

Edit: Bah, figures, a whole nother page of replies from the one I saw last...and my post is redundant as the OP covered it...with pics, even...

Edit 2: Just a personal gripe, but I'm not too happy with the red 'strobes'. I'm actually trying to use an external lighting arrangement similar to the one used by the Cygnus spacecraft. Wikipedia article here. The relevant section is near the bottom, titled, "Spacecraft Navigation Lights."

Thank you for this... I was wondering why it wasn't opening the sheilded docking port I had added to the top of the vehicle.

Sat in the cabin flicking the switch on and off.. and all the while the little windowshield was opening and closing and I was just too daft to see it.

Did I mention how much I like this vehicle? Because I really REALLY like it. If you left it just as it was I wouldn't complain. Happy as a pig in muck.

Buuuut... If you were to consider adding a method of targeting an area on the ground from the navigation/map monitor that would be splendid.. well.. better than splendid.. more like fabulous.. fantastic.. marvelous.. tremendous.. (I have a list) :)

MJ is the only thing I have come across which will target a ground location. I find this very handy when I have landed in one location and I am hopping to another.

It's ok if you can't do it though.. I'm more than happy and incredibly grateful for you effort and time.

Excellent work.

It is impossible to directly acquire data about MechJeb's point-on-the-ground target location without introducing a hard dependency on MechJeb, i.e. the plugin would stop working completely when the user does not have MechJeb -- blame Squad plugin loader. There might be a way to acquire the data indirectly, because MechJeb writes the point coordinates into the target's name as a line of text, however, this is more complicated than it sounds and will need research.

Hey alex, I noticed in the screenshot of the docking shields above and in my capsule a few days ago, where it says Liquid Fuel, Oxidiser and all that, underneath is propellant mass (stage) and I could've sworn it said Delta-V Remaining or something a while back.. Where did my dV display go? :(

EDIT: And in the top screenshot, I think I see a 'm/s' partially hidden by the shield picture.. ok new question: how do I switch between the two?

Alex, you got me waiting like a noob boyfriend: stupidly nervous and expecting a whole new world of possibilities...

:D

You are making a lot of advances, are you planning a definitive release?

ahh well.. cheers anyway Alex.

By the way, I've dropped a bollock and for some reason my Autopilot window says Autopilot software is not installed.

I've started this query in another tread so you won't have to repeat yourself too many times in case other idiots like me does the same thing.

I have tiltled the thread "Autopilot not installed"

I have upgraded to the latest Mechjeb and now in the cabin I get "Autopilot not installed" when I click mechjeb on the monitor.

I reinstalled the previous version of mechjeb but oddly enough, I have now lost Autopilot then too.

Any ideas where I messed up?

Edit : I just reinstalled the previous version of the DLL again and now it works.... Most perculiar.

I removed and replaced the whole installation with the newer version.

That made it break.

I removed the folder from GameData and reinstalled the previous version.. Didn't work.

Came on here and complained to make my stupidity front and center stage...

Then I thought maybe it's the plugin.. lets just overwrite the plug-in again and now it works again.

So folks wouldn't wast their time on a problem that doesn't exist any more.

Mechjeb version number has changed. For the moment RPM is not yet compatible with it, try the development version of Mechjeb that was released just before they changed the version number.

About MJ support

MechJeb had a full version release and they changed the version number. It's not supposed to work, I'm afraid.

I'll have to publish 0.15 early, it seems, before most of the 0.23.5 features are correctly supported, but in the meantime, use this build of MJ: http://jenkins.mumech.com/job/MechJeb2/210/

That's the last one that still had the 2.1 version number.

EDIT: The development build of RPM is now compiled against MechJeb 2.2 (and higher) and will require it. So will 0.15 when I can sit down (hopefully tomorrow) and see if there's anything stopping me from just publishing it as it is.

If you have MJ installed on your vessel, you'll see DeltaV, otherwise the weight of the propellant.

RPM plugin can count Delta itself, but its way is simplified enough and for correct calculation of delta on complex vessel (fuel pumping or with SRB) it is not suitable. Therefore Mihara decided to just "ask" headroom information from Delta from MJ if it is on board.

Next update date of ALCOR largely depends on the date of release new version of RPM, but we have good news - seems that the RPM 0.15 will be released tomorrow :)

Showing off landers? Here's my low gravity one with about 1.25 km/s dV:

http://i.imgur.com/MlXXtH9.png

Comes complete with basic science equipment and a materials bay, ridiculously stable with a low CoM and fits inside a 2.5m expanded fairing. Job's a good 'un, I reckon.

Nice looking lander, unfortunately, I'm not really able to dissect it from just that image. I'm not familiar with those fuel tanks...and what's mounted above the Science Jr (where the Presmat and so forth are mounted)? Is it a single stage, or multistage? Is that a shielded docking port on top, or a parachute? I'm going to guess a single engine mounted under the Materials bay, fed from the fuel lines I see...

Looks like his using RLA Stockalike mod and that's a Stock chute on top.

As MeCripp said, RLA Stockalike fuel tanks (they're designed for probe sizes but fit the bill perfectly for this), stock 48-7S engine (retextured by blackheart), stock chute on top, stock 1k battery above the Sc Jr with a KW Rocketry 1.25m decoupler above that (because it looks nicer). That white bit between the middle solar panel and the cute is the antennae from Kerbal Space Industries (from Hyomoto).

I have a variation of this with two radial chutes in the KAS box in the capsule with a docking port on top and some RCS bits around for orbital rendezvousing. I would've included some Goo containers as well but to be honest, I forgot. There's room on the sides between the tanks for them or some more fuel or whatever, though they could get in the way of the cameras on the side. Also, while playing with TweakableEverything to boost the yaw and pitch torque, I must've accidentally gotten rid of the roll torque so, uhh.. I can't rotate it, which made for fun landings!

Ahh that'd be why then, what with MJ not working with RPM at the moment. Thanks for the answer and I'm excited for the next RPM!
