Science in space vs science in orbit

Recommended Posts

To me it seems theres is no difference in the science output once you go into orbit around Kerbin vs just pointing your rocket straight up and going into space, either in sub-orbital jumps or highly elliptic trajectories that has you nosefive hard back on the surface. Perhaps tweak is so actually being in orbit gives more/different science than just being in the vacuum of space.

maybe my understanding is flawed but I kind of thought it did. It seems like there's different zones or categories and... I thought that once you did science in a particular zone at a particular distance from Kerbin that later attempts became less efficient. But I've admittedly been spending most of my time testing plugins than doing 'hard science'. so my understanding could be totally off :(
