Cannot seem to dock

Hi everyone!

I am a bit new to KSP. I've been playing it for about a month now. I am trying to create a space station, but I cannot seem to figure out how to dock my second part. It is my first time docking, and it is so hard. I keep coming in straight at the docking port at 0.2m/s or less (usually 0.1m/s) but it just doesn't want to dock. I tried turning off SAS, but still cannot seem to dock. Any help? Do I have to open a port to dock or something? The Extension of my space station uses a Clamp-o-tron and the main part of my space station I am trying to attach to has a Rockomax HubMax Multi-Point Connector. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You need to have attached a docking port to the multi-point connector at the building stage for other docking ports to dock to. I made that mistake when I first started playing, thinking the connector was a docking point, but it's not.

You will have to put docking ports on the multi point connector. Or whatever else you want to be able to dock to

Notice that this part is not a docking port. It is just a cube with attach points on all sides and you need to attach docking ports to it from all sides you want to use for docking.

Thanks, that was my mistake. Time to crash them back into the atmosphere then...

Moreover, to dock two docking ports, they must be of the same size. (Junior to Junior, Normal to Normal, Senior to Senior).

Also, make sure that the docking ports on both craft are properly facing "out." You can rotate parts in the VAB using the QWEASD keys while placing them.

Note that the inline docking port and the shielded docking port are the same size as the normal docking port, and those 3 all fit tougether

Thanks everyone. Just sent in a new space station with docking ports, and it works perfectly fine now. Docking is so much easier now!
