LGM-30 Minuteman III functional replica

Recommended Posts

Looks were secondary to function, in terms of replicating the launch sequence of the Minuteman III.

My first share here, hope you like it!

Okay fine, maybe I got that last one from the internet...:sticktongue:

Right?

Imagine if we could assemble them like how we assemble rockets, experimenting with different designs to see what happens:P

technicaly we can.

Google's new quantum PCs* + Government specs + correct simulation = cheap, effective, SAFE simulation of rocket designs.

Subject to GIGO of course... Which is always a problem with simulations.

When I was in the Navy, we'd sometimes get crossed up because while the FCS trainer was theoretically a precise copy of the version installed on the submarine... it was a complex installation in it's own right (and like all such, subtly different from it's brethren), and connected to a stimulation system that simulated an ideal launcher and ship system (which no actual launcher and ship actually was) - as a result of this, there were numerous subtle differences. It also wasn't an exact physical replica because the trainer needed to be large enough for the instructors to circulate and observe, thus the aural cue and muscle memory of moving about MCC were significantly different.

I love that vets' are on this game and forum. (Even though im 13! :sticktongue:)

He means lego built nukes.

Lucky for us, Teller and Ullam were Kerbals, Fission triggered Fusion devices have no upper limit

Maybe one of the Project Orion mods is the closest we already have.

That's the propulsion system which detonates small nuclear devices near a pusher-plate. Real life idea, from the early days, which got a lot of design effort but was killed off by the atmospheric test-ban treaty, and maybe other stuff. It's popped up in a few SF novels, such as Footfall and Charles Stross is up to something that also involves parallel worlds.

The W66 warhead on the Sprint missile massed about 70 kg, and the first stage accelerated at 100g for about 1.2 seconds, Just an idea for the booster-freaks, you understand.
