out of control stock rover!!!

Recommended Posts

helllo, im tackling a problem on an out of control stock rover and i have no idea. first it tips over when i try to drive it, then i turned off the reaction wheels and it doesn't budge. i try "jetpacking" with the fuel onboard but a few secs and the fuel is used up. i ended up destroying my rover (the command unit is not destroyed) i reverted the flight and did some hacks (no impact damage, unbreakable joints, infinite fuel) but my rover wheels still break. im fed up with this baby. (i ejected the rover from on top of a unmanned lander with the fuel onboard before using it)

now i don't know what to do.

A picture would be most helpful, but maybe try making your rover wider? Also, if you switch to Docking mode, and then hit space to switch to Linear mode that will eliminate the roll you are going to get with the reaction wheels, but will still maintain control. If you are using anything other than RCS for propulsion you run the risk of going to fast and causing your wheels to break.

The stock rover is "rover + skycrane", you'll want to get rid of the rockety part before you drive it, the rockets are just for landing the rover. With the skycrane attached it won't drive too well if at all.

After that, what I do is switch to linear docking mode as suggested, and drive carefully and not too fast or it'll flip over when going over a bump. Works for me.

If you want a more stable rover just build one that is much wider, the stock rover is quite tiny, close to the smallest size you can make.

well i only used the fuel to eject the rover from a larger lander
