First person Kerbal

Recommended Posts

I've been playing a bit of space engineers and i've accualy been thinking about KSP alot. as of now you can only be in 3rd person and the controls are a bit messed up to those who are FPS players. Personaly fps would make my life much easier since i do play quite a lot of FPS games. However this could bring so much new stuff to the game like tilting your kerbal and even jetpack upgrades. For example as of now the jetpacks are very un manoeuvrable, maybe if you follow the tech tree you get better jetpacks that are either stronger or more 'manoeuvrable'. i personaly think this could open alot to the EVA aspect of the game. thanks for reading :)

Posting here to build on what goldfang is saying.

Regarding "limits" it occurred to me that IVA missions are extremely difficult yet promising.

I would suggest adding in the future a "hard-mode" that limits flight control to 1st person IVA view. Similarly; adding a 1st person EVA option would be awesome as well. Having posted this I am now curious if pressing V while in EVA may actually already include a 1st person view...

To goldfang: try pressing "c" to get a first person in cockpit view (press "c" again to exit). That shows instrument panels if you're looking for a 1st person challenge.

You cannot change the camera to first person, but, I once forced the game into IVA view with a mod all the time. This made the camera turn into a first person view in EVA, however, it made the kerbal uncontrollable, and you always looked up or something. I'm pretty sure this camera view could be fixed in some way.

This shouldn't really be too complex... I recall Harv saying at some point that first-person EVA would be like assigning an IVA view to Kerbals themselves, since they're treated much like vessels anyway. It'd be cool to see :)
