This is a good lesson for always putting a probe core on every vehicle. If you had one, you could fire the radial separators to free the Kerbal. The central core of the rocket could get home from Minmus and the gravity's low enough the Kerbal could probably roll it in the right direction or prop it up on one of the side tanks for a launch ramp. And if not, the Kerbal can get himself at least into Kerbin orbit with just his jetpack .
