The Inline clamp-o-tron is a docking port encased in a protective housing. It is commonly used in spaceplanes.

Not quiet. It is a clamp-o-tron in and of itself (Standard size)

It is similar to a Shielded Clamp-o-tron, but faces sideways. Therefore, it allows you to attach/dock laterally.

A very useful device. Not only can you have something dock perpendicular to your hull, but more importantly you can use it with the "control from here" feature that any docking port has at a right angle to your tank, very useful for certain types of landers. I made a rover/lander with fuel tanks and other times parallel to the wheel base and it was able to ascend and descend much more controllably because of this.

It's a part that mounts in-line with fuel tanks and reaction wheels and such. A little hatch opens and a docking port comes out the side.

It is just a normal Clamp-o-Tron that is concealed in a fuselage. It functions identically, except that it is hidden until you right click and extend it. It is most practical for SSTO space planes, where it can easily be incorporated into the design. Although you could just put a clamp-o-tron on a fuel tank like you normally would, the Inline docking port can be more aesthetically pleasing. It just occurred to me that its center of mass is(probably) in the middle, so if you'd like to place a single docking port on a ship or discarded stage you can do so without having to use multiple normal docking ports to balance it out.

Just one thing about it: When it opens, some of the weight shifts. So take this into account if you're to make burns after opening it
