“It started out very lowkey,†Falanghe told the Report. “The first idea I pitched was actually 2D… it could have been done in Flash. Basically you built a space craft, and tried to launch it as high as it would go… and that was basically it. It was kind of like a high score game.â€Â

His employers liked the idea and greenlit the project. Feature after feature would be added until eventually the game was released to the public in 2011 with version 0.7.3, a very simplistic version of the Kerbal Space Program available today.

Let's go as high as you can go! 1 meter off the ground=1 point!

Bonus for orbit: 100000 points.

Screenshots (*required) (use Windowskey Printscreen/printscreen and paste to imgur) are VAB, Inflight, and *stats screen

My attempt:

I get 31023 points.

FOR MAC USERS use 0.10, and no struts, fuel pipes, or stacking liquid fuel tanks, then all you get is a minus 100 points for being a mac user unauthenticity.

Whenever I play an early version of the game, it's like a mix of early Career mode and model rockets.

I went for a somewhat simpler approach.

Max altitude:

score: 55838

(should be really easy to beat; just waiting for someone to achieve orbit)

I joined around 0.15.0 after playing the demo for a month or so. It's so cool how much better KSP's become.

That wasn't orbit, was it? If not, then there's no reason to turn over.

EDIT: oh, the craft was not very controlable, was it

Your edited notion is correct, on launch it started to ever so slowly tilt (no symmetry function so it wasn't 100% balanced) and the only thing I could do was to try and hold it steady. Staging was also a bit rough.

I think I reached escape trajectory. Not sure, but the speed drops very slowly and the altitude keeps building up. Apparently SRBs were a bit overpowered and with use of enough SAS modules it was possible to keep them somehow under control. All it needed then were two stages of tank+engine.

It's shaking a lot at altitude (472 km at the moment), Kraken was clearly not under control yet.

Edit: I added another image to the album after I reached 1000 km. Speed is still over 1600 m/s and decreasing by tenths.

Edit 2: at about 1300 km I noticed that Kerbin started to clip out of the view. Details were not becoming smaller but the circle was decreasing rapidly. And at 1480 km it disappeared completely.

Edit 3: the trajectory seems to be elliptical after all - at 2000 km I noticed the pitch decreased from about 40° to about 35°. But I don't have enough time to watch how far will it go. I believe it could still be considered orbit taking into account the initial pitch and speed after last burn.
