Bringing back experiments, stones, etc ...

Recommended Posts

Is it right that you can only store on report or one piece of munstone on the biggest lander ? And there is no way to transfer these into a docked command capsule which I think can also store just one little stone even if I use the biggest one... so why should I build rockets with the three / two Kerbal capsule / lander ? A little bit annoying

I agree. There should be an "experiment container" to store things. It should have a kind of storage size and the player should be able to transfer experments, data and samples into this container like transfering fuel or elctricity.

But I think this is more likely to be placed in the suggestions forums. Mod somewhere? ;)

Edit: And cheers to the baltic sea! :)

Yeah, the ability to only be able to store one Mun-rock is kind of annoying. There should be a part capable of holding Mun-rocks. Or... the capsule should be able to hold a certain amount of samples (rocks/dirt/whatever else) before being full. Along with that, it should be able to hold the same experiment many times, rather than just having the ability to hold one of each experiment.

Hopefully the ability for this will be in the next update.

That is the current functionality, yes.

And why should you build anything at all? For fun, for looks, for bringing more kerbals, for difficulty, your imagination is the limit.

Updated science functionality, along with being able to transfer samples is already being worked on for 0.23. Source here, still only planned though and not a guarantee that it will be introduced with the patch.

Edit: Rats, I should've planned post#1000 more carefully.

I agree that the CM should be able to hold more than one report, but there does have to be a limit. You do have a finite amount of storage space after all so you can't exactly dig a huge hole in the mun taking surface samples and bring it all back.

I'd rather see the whole pick up a rock theme thrown out of the window and be replaced by mass. A probe (with a special part) should be able to pick up 0.1t, a 1 man command pod 0.3t etc. But maybe this is better off in the suggestion section.

Yes I think it should be moved over to the suggestions if someone would be so kind of our moderators.

Yes absolutly, but I don´t want to dig a 10x10m hole into the ground to bring all the dirt into my capsule :D. I´d just like to get my samples from my fellow kerbonauts into their lander and then when it´s docked in mun orbit transfer them to the commandmodule.

I like to build the most efficent way (in my eyes) and thought hey one man capsule = one sample, three man capsule = three samples - just for my simple logic but i havn´t thought of squads logic

You can only store one EVA report and one Sample per capsule per biome.

If you hop to a different biome ( massive crater on mun, for instance) you can store a sample and report from that biome in the same capsule.

If you bring two command pods, you can put one sample and one EVA report into each, letting you bring two reports from the same biome.
