Collecting Science in Sanbox mode

I want to be able to collect science in sandbox mode (where all of my mods function). Is there a way to modify the persistent file to achieve this?

Doubtful, but if you modify the mod part config file you can add it to the tech tree.

As the R&D facility is locked in sandbox mode there is no way to do research,etc.

If what you are after is to be able to use your mods from the start of career mode, then you may be able to do this by editing the conifg of each mod part as Taki117 replied

Some of the updated mods, such as Nova Punch, will integrate into the tech tree in Career Mode. Check for updates on your favorite ones.

You can, of course, conduct your own research in Sandbox just like you can conduct a career type prior to career Mode.
