"Our mother is giving us life, dying ever so slowly" would seem to be time itself, that it is finite.

I'll be more specific:

The passing of seconds.

So this is either the easiest riddle you've ever posted, or the hardest because it is incredibly abstract.

I don't think it's the easiest... but it's probably not my hardest either.

So, here's where you all get really mad at me: the 'tick, tock' is intentionally placed there because not only is it correct onomatopoeia, it is also incredibly misleading.

I am amused at how time and the passing of seconds seems to fit, but the bits about brothers and beginnings and ends doesn't quite make sense, nor does falling. Time would be the comparison I draw to the real answer in order to mislead y'all. Keep trying.

Hm? No, the tick tock sound has a lot to do with it... but clocks and timepieces aren't the only things that go tick tock, is all. (Whee, misdirection!)
