Krag's Planet Factory - New Planets

That's exactly what I see, this is a mod heavy install on windows, perhaps kethane is messing it up?

That's unlikely. Kethane only interacts with planetary bodies in a couple spots, and it never manipulates anything. It could be the KSPAddon bug which causes incompatibilities between otherwise unrelated mods.

Probably for the best, I'd have bad things to say about the physics, then again I have bad things to say about the existing planets :)

I e-mailed Krag about this issue, the Linux problem, and the hyperedit problem. (And I'm pretty sure Krag is at least monitoring this thread.)

Physics Schmysics:)

Too bad I still have to save for a New PC and at the moment, don't have enough RAM for this

If you're not running Linux, it doesn't matter. KSP won't ever use more than 4GB (and if you've got literally anything else on your comuter, it's more like 2-3GB) of RAM because it's a 32-bit application, and the devs can't make it a 64-bit application to remove that restriction because Unity 64 for Mac and Windows is a buggier piece of crap than that dumpster at the end of the first Men In Black movie.

Dont think so, unless your running an old version of kethane. I have Ketyhane installed and all the new planets/moons look fine.

I also tried a stock install on my OSX host, no joy. Maybe the download link I have is bogus.

The issue with planets loading with stock textures is definitely not specifically a Linux/OSX issue. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it happened to me. Pretty sure it is mod-related so I'm going to try it with a stock installation tonight then add addons until I find the culprit. Hopefully it will load properly with stock, if it doesn't it becomes a question of specific computers...

Did you guys who got it working properly install the files simply by copy/pasting them to the root KSP folder, merging folders as necessary? This is to rule out improper installations.

On windows the problem most likely comes from out of memory errors, since KSP Windows is only a 32-bit application. Linux problems are instead caused by the use of \ in the paths rather than the correct /. Windows ignores that since it doesn't make a distinction between / and \, but UNIX-based operating systems strictly use the /. It's easy to fix and I expect Krag will deal with it soon.

Will the mass/size of those semi-neutron stars fixed at all?

Man. Create a few planets and all people do is complain. For the record, Thud (the most dense of the new planets) is about a trillion times less dense than a neutron star. It's about 33 times as dense as Earth (the densest celestial body in our solar system) and is denser than any elemental substance. But it's only about 3 times as dense as Kerbin, which is also denser than any known elemental substance. If you want realism, play Orbiter.

Krag should be able to fix the Linux/path problem tonight. The texture issue seems to be a mod conflict. If folks could let us know what mods they have loaded when they see this problem, it'll help narrow it down.

I keep going back to little green men.

Last night, I believe I had these mods enabled running in 0.22 when I tried to add the planets:

Novapunch parts

Kethane

Extraplanetary Launchpads

Kerbal Attachment System

Lazors

Deadly Reentry Continued v3

Clouds and City Lights

Mechjeb

Flight Engineer

Procedural Fairings

Kerbal Joint System

And I removed FAR about halfway through my tests because I was having separate issues with it, but it didn't fix the problem.

Quite a lot of mods. I didn't ever have a crash, but I wouldn't be surprised if RAM plays a role.

Well I guess what I'm wondering is whether the mod will just fail silently and not load the textures, or, whether it'll cause the KSP process to OOM.

Is there MEANT to be a planet called "Inaccessible"?

Sentar and Inacccessible are the only planets I see from this pack, is that all of them (With their moons)?

You should probably add a planet/moon list to the first post.

I had an odd issue with this mod when I installed last night. I achieved encounters with both Inaccessable and the Sentar system. After getting into the SOI, there were no planets visible from either view. Also, in order to get a circularized orbit, I had to get my indicated orbit speed down to almost 0 m/s. Quite odd.

I think there may have been an interaction with the clouds mod suggested in the release page. I installed it fresh with the planets, though, so I have no idea if it needed config or anything, not familiar with it. Once I restarted to uninstall clouds, the Sentar system at least showed up and acted normally. May have just been the game restart, so I'm not entirely sure, but it's something to keep an eye on at least.

My issue is that it fails silently, I've never actually had an OOM in a long time. It doesn't even load the metadata and descriptions for the planets, it's just like the planets are copies of the stock planets. Occasionally if I leave my game open for hours it will crash with a freeze-crash. I'm running with 8GB of memory, which it can't use all of anyway.
