scince i joined this great community, i have seen many great things happen to this game. it has become a it on steam, it has gained the attention of many you tubers to the point of it being a very common sight, and now it may win the sci-fi game of the year award. (http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/57326-KSP-nominated-for-Best-Sci-Fi-Game-Voting-now-open) what do you think will happen in the future?

my personal time line for the game was this:

steam?

steam hit (maybe? didn't know how it would attract the average player.)

NASA shoutout

possible shoutout by some state board of education

released.

possibly game of the year award? (again, depends on the average player.)

the fact that it has been a regular visitor to the front page of steam has greatly encouraged me in the area of the education of the average person. now it may win an award for best sci-fi game of the year, and ksp may start becoming an everyday physics class tool! (kerbleEDU)

so, lets hear it, what do you think will happen to this game?

If you are thinking about KSP becoming world-wide hit like WoW, CoD or GTA you might be in for disappointment. Regardless of how awesome this game is, and how much we love it, it is a niche product. Number of nerdy space-lovers is nowhere near the number of FPS/MMORPG fans :)

It may not ever see the kind of volume like GTA, CoD or WoW... but do not underestimate the pop-culture significance of million of players. That's easily attainable.

World of Warcraft (with about 7 million subscribers), for instance, only seems so massive because it's on a subscription model - Minecraft is bigger, with 12 million copies sold for the PC and 33 million copies sold across all platforms. There's no reason KSP couldn't achieve the same level of success - especially since other indie games have blazed the trail and proven it can be done. The added denefits of educational applicability and content delivery cannot be underestimated.

i think that while it will not become a AAA game like gtaV or other MMOs, i think that it will become very popular for its genre. my man thing is that when i got this game in the .16 era, it was almost completely unheard of. if you had had said that iw would be a steam front pager for months at a time, i would have just lapsed. now look.
