Tom Kerman: "Get the viddy feeds for the radio telescopes up, and reset the calibrations to yesterday night."

Adam Kerman: "Got it! I'm resetting the calibration software"

Adam: "Calibrations reset to yesterday. I'm going to adjust the feeds, and try to contact our orbiting telescope."

Tom: "Roger that...hah. Lemme check the live feeds being transmitted."

Ludwig Kerman: "Tom?"

Tom: "Yes?"

Ludwig: "What's this?"

cb4lepc.png

Tom: "Huh?"

Adam: "Tom! I've picked up a radio analomy at...um...latitude...uh...0.328 and longitude 0.153 fifteen degress off into the sky from groundpoint view!"

Ludwig: "I'm going to have a shuttle clean the telescope lens...."

Tom: "Wait!"

Ludwig: "Huh?"

Tom: "Maybe its a new rogue planet!"

Ludwig: "Are you kidding me? If it is, it's only 6 lightyears from here! Presposterous! All planets need a star to form, and once they are, they will remain there until the star dies and destroys them!"

Adam: "Tom! Radio analomy detected! 0.328 Lat, 0.153 long, and some fifteen degresses from the horizontal skyline!"

Tom: "Huh? Lud, what's the telescope pointed at?"

Ludwig: "Why...how can this be possible? I...I think we've found a new rogue exoplanet!"

Tom: "Huh ? Wheren't you just saying that such a find was impossible?"

Ludwig: "I take that back!"

Tom: "I'm going to call this in...what should we name it? Ludwig's Big Mistake?"

Ludwig: "No!"

Grabbing a phone, Tom quickly ran into the storage room and locked himself in. Grinning in the darkness, he called the Administrator of the National Astronautics Agency.

Wehner: "Jah?"

Tom: "You won't believe what I just found!"

Wehner: "I believe in everything except for ponies. Keep talking!"

Tom: "I think I've just found a rogue planet!"

Wehner: "Impossible! Have you really?"

Tom: "How about you look yourself? Check the readouts of Orbital Telescope Seven"

Wehner: "Mother of Kod. Can this be real?"

Tom: "It is!"

Millions of millions of miles away, a star went out.

Chapter 1: Dissappearing Stars

KSC, 01800 Hours, Nighttime

ZyzF5hZ.png

Two Kerbal's walked in the spaceplane hangar. The engineers had gone home, and they where alone in the center. Footsteps eerily echoed throughout the hangar as the two Kerbal's walked around, before entering an office. The hangar was silent again as the door of the office slammed shut.

Murphy Kerman: "Where the hell is the Vendela System?"

Wehner: "Huh?"

Murphy: "Look. Here's two pictures taken by the Ground Watcher Astronomy Centre! One was prior to the discovery of the rogue planet, the other was taken before the discovery!"

RQ3Prpw.png

Wehner: I'm quite certain that this is a temporary glitch or some dust of some so-"

Murphy: "I'm not kidding! The Vendela System is gone! Gone!"

Wehner: "Calm down. I'm going to look into this, and am going to order the spacecraft to deploy high-sensitivity radio sensors for trace of the Vendela System. There must be a logical reason for the dissappearence of the star. Perhaps there was a supernova, or.."

Murphy: "Not just the Vendela System...but the Helmsdeep System, the Orcahzine Triple Sy-"

Wehner: "I'm not going to take any of this nonsense! Tell me, what the hell do you think is happening?"

Murphy was shaking. His veins pulsated, and his eyes where bloodshot. He gazed out of the office window, before turning again to face Wehner and deliver his conclusion.

Murphy: "Mr. Adminstrator..the stars are going out. Just go and look. Does it seem to be fewer stars than there was a few months ago?"

Wehner: "While our radio telescopes have recorded much less activity in our local star field and in our nearby systems, I have no concern for this matter. It is simply a..um...supernova."

Murphy: "Sir...and how can this explain, that how every star that our new.."friend" has approached has flickered-then dissappeared?"

Wehner: "I'm certain this is a mere coicidence. I will look into this matter. Also, we've named the planet Nova Six"

Murphy: "Nova Six, huh? What if it comes near us?"

Wehner: "You may leave."

Grabbing several folders and a stack of papers, Wehner left the office and walked toward the exit, the sounds of his footsteps echoing in the hallway, each growing fainter and fainter in turn as he left the building. Oh Kod..noone will believe me! I swear! I saw the Venedela System vanish before my very eyes!, though Murphy as he stood alone in the office. He tightened his hands into a fist, then released them, before walking off to the radio telescopes on the center.

Adjusting the telescope, Murphy flipping through a manual of controls. He wasn't going down easy.

Murphy: "Let's see what we have here...."

A star flickered in the distance, and dissappeared into the void. Murphy saw this, and wiped the sweat off his forehead, before going back to musing over his data. Must have proof. Must have proof. Must have proof, he thought as he went over his data over and over.

Adam: "Murphy? What are you doing here so late?"

Murphy: "Wha-I thought I was alone!"

Noticing the calibrations and readouts of the massive telescope, Adam Kerman knew what was happening.

Adam: "Looking into the dissappearing stars, huh?"

Murphy: "Adam, don't tell anyone this, but..."

Adam: "?"

Murphy: "I think Nova Six...the rogue you found with Tom and Ludwig..I think it has a connection with these dissappearences."

Adam: "I've been thinking the same thing."

The two scientists in labcoats looked toward the sky, past the opening of the telescope adjustment corridor. Five stars had dissappeared in a matter of weeks, yet the night sky still shone on. They watched in a moment of silence, thinking..thinking...thinking. Turning toward his new data readouts, Murphy began reading each and every letter and number on the paper.

Adam: "I don't really don't know anything about Nova Six, except that it contains an atmosphere, has high carbon content, and that I found it."

Murphy: "Adam, look at this...mother of kod!"

Adam: "Huh?"

Murphy: "Nova Six...it's...moving..I can't believe it!"

Adam: "This is impossible. To visibly move at such a distance, it must be faster than light!"

Murphy: "I'm not kidding! Look yourself!"

Adam looked into the telescope, and looked at the data. He rubbed his eyes and tried to make sure he wasn't dreaming, and looked back at the small, fast moving dot. Impossible...it must be going at ten times the speed of light to move that fast!

Adam: "By kod..."

Chapter Two: Gone

KSC, Mission Control, Planetary Control

RLNeQ4h.png

Around half a dozen Kerbals where at the controls of a small research satellite in interplanetary space. Wehner had promised to hunt for the Venedela System, and he was now going to fulfill that very promise.

Gene Kerman: "All systems nominal, preparing to switch on the Radio Sensors. Adjusting orbital plane, and altering sensory course in order to get a good look at the VenedelaSystem..or what is suppose to be the Venedela System."

Wehner: "Got it. I'm going to have to leave now to the bathroom."

Gene: "M'kay, boss. I'm switching the systems on, and am performing a test scan of Jool."

Johann Kerman: "Gene, can you go check the unconfirmed signal from the second science module?"

Gene: "It's been like that during launch. The craft apparently has some issues due to some G-force issues with the SSTO payload bays, something big with the vibration. It'sa little shaken up."

T9AM9hn.png

Gene: "System scans have been run by now. Data streaming in, in several se-oh, here they come."

Edger Kerman: "I'm checking the data readouts....but it's not looking good."

Gene: "Huh?"

Edger: "No signs of the Vendela System. Light detectors detected nothing but the photons of nearby stars, and no radio signals where detected."

Johann: "What about the sound? Anything? A system...a whole system with three confirmed plane...they can't vanish overnight!"

Edger: "Nope. Nothing. Look's like they did, huh? Funny that, now that entire solar systems are vanishing."

The door opened, and Wehner returned from his bathroom break, obilivous to the emotions of terror around him.

Wehner: "I'm back. What's with the data?"

Johnann: "Mr. Administrator....sir.....Vendela i-"

Edger: "Sir, the Venedela System has dissappeared."

Wehner: "Impossible...."

Wehner picked up the readouts and the data, and scanned them. He searched the papers, looking over and over for the existence of the system.

Wehner: "This is impossible. This is both a great discovery in astrophysics, or we have discovered death!"

Gene: "I believe that we have discovered death. Let's suppose whatever caused the....dissapperence of Vendela comes to Kerbol. What then?"

Wehner: "What should we tell the public? They've been buzzing all over with news of the stars going out. I'm sorry I didn't believe you, Murphy.....so sorry."

Gene: "I highly suggest keeping quiet. Such a discovery could have unpredecented consquences."

Edger: "I agree."

Johann: "Should we atleast inform the government?"

Wehner: "Of course. Guys, this is all confidental information, ya' got it?"

Edger: "Wehner."

Wehner: "Huh?"

Edger: "Sir, what about the other systems? Whatever Nova Six seems to go near...it...they....they just...vanish!"

Wehner: "What's the trajectory of Nova Six?"

Gene: "Not headed toward Kerbol, but let's suppose something happens. What then?"

Johann: "It WAS not headed to Kerbol, but some new data disproves.

The Kerbals fell silent, and looked at the latest readouts. They paused, and looked at each other worriedly, waiting for someone-anyone to answer. Gene quickly picked up the conversation again with a quick observation..

Gene: "Ah, well, great. How long do we have then, several years?"

Edgers eyes widened as he suddenly realized something.

Edger: "Uh...if what we are seeing is what it looked like some ten light years ago, and it travels faster than light..."

Johann: "...then it might as well be at the doorstep of the Kerbol system."

Wehne looked toward both of them, as the revelation sunk in.

Wehner: "I'm calling the President for a emergency meeting. I'll see you later."

Chapter 3: Emergency

Executive Mansion, United Provincal Capitol

President Madfield: "A rogue planet that makes stars dissappear? Ha, ha, very funny. What's next? Gigantic space hamsters that shoot lasers?"

Wehner: "Sir, this is of the utmost urgency, and yes..., I believe the biotechnology division of the National Astronautics Agency has made oversized hamsters that can fire lasers with proper training."

Madfield: "OK, then...but still, a planet eater is still far fetched. It's a koddamn planet eater, for kods sake!

Wehner: Yes, it's a star killer too. And apparently, it's coming to our system."

Madfield walked to the window and pulled back the curtain. Several Kerbals stood outside the gates, holding signs like "The End is Near! The Stars Are Dying!". He turned back from the window and went back to Wehner, who was now shuffling nervously.

Madfield: "Fine then, let's assume you are correct. But I still need proof. Proof, Wehner...where is it?"

Wehner: "It is right here, Mr. President."

The President paused, and flipped through the pages of Wehner's report.

Madfield: "You say the Venedela System, the Helmsdeep System, and the...O...the O-something system have dissappearedas a result of this "rogue planet?"?

Madfields voice dripped of sarcasm. He looked at Wehner disapprovingly, and went back to reading the files.

Wehner: "Wh-why yes, sir. Even our radio telescopes could not pick up any trace of these systems, after this Nova Six went near them. Nova Six is heading toward Kerbol, sir...Kerbalkind is it's next target, it's next prey."

Madfield: "Well then... What shall you do if we aren't. If I go and anno-"

Wehner: "Mr. President, in all due respect, sir, I am absolutely certain. Nova Six is heading toward Kerbin, and I don't know how, but that planet...that planet....it's going to be the end of us all if we don't take action....trust me, Sir. Nova Six is a threat not only to our country, but the entire kerbal race."

Madfield: "And if it isn't? I'm already taking a hit in the polls thank's to all this "Doomsday" rioting and looting in some big cities, and I don't want to increase it or look like a fool by just announcing it. However, tell you what, Wehner, I'll order a emergency meeting of the Advisory Committee, and will try my best to get the United Nations into assembly to combat this threat....when does Nova Six enter the system?"

Wehner: "My estimates are in a week, sir."

Madfield: "Very well. We shall know in a week. Wehner, stay here....I'm going to take a look at the news. There's some issues I want you to answer too, and we'll work out a plan for saving our species from there."

Setting down the papers, Madfield turned toward the TV and turned it on, and switched it to a news channel.

KNN Reporter: "Reports of dissappearing star systems are being interpeted as a sign that Kerbin civilization will end soon, as claimed by many worried Kerbals. Mass riots are gripping the world's cities in chaos and disorder as looting becomes widespread, and several countries, most notably the Terra Robodan Empire and the Great Union, have declared a state of national emergency and have installed military rule over certain proviences or regions. The National Astronautics Agency has fueled such reports with it's confirmation that, indeed, the Venede-

Madfield: "What the hell? Why the hell did you release this?"

Wehner: "I did'nt! Turn it back on, I want to see who released the information! I thought I made it clear that it was supposed to be extremely sensitive confidential information!"

KNN Reporter: "stronautical Researcher, Adam Ke-"

Wehner: "Him? The Kerbal that got the Harvester Peace Prize for the discovery of Nova Six? Of all cases, him?"

Madfield: "Shush."

KNN Reporter: "rman has confirmed the link between Nova Six and the dissappearences of the Venedela, Helmsdeep, and Orchanlzine Systems, and now warns Kerbalkind to be aware of the dangers that Nova Six poses, and to perform a crash-interstellar exploration programme to quickly spread Kerbalkind to other systems to avoid the fate of any sentient bei-"

The KNN channel suddenly switched off, displaying a message apologizing to users and claiming the channel to be unusable for now. Outside the KNN Headquarters, three black military helicopters landed, and armed troopers barged inside the building. Gunshots followed, and some screams where heard, and all fell silent once again, and the staff in the Headquarters where ordered to leave before being shot themselves. The soldiers secured the building, herding out or shooting any Kerbal that refused to leave.

Later that day, President Madfield declared a state of National Emergency, and deployed military forces into the cities of the United Proviences.

Nova Six was now within several million kilometers of Eeloo's apoasis.

Chapter Four: Planetary Disaster

Near Eeloo Space, faraway from Kerbol

Nova Six grabbed Eeloo, slithering it's tentacles along the surface of the icy dwarf planet. The massive creature pasued for a moment, then resumed it's slow ritual. It's tentacles had a firm grip of Eeloo now, and it began to pull the planet closer, and closer, and closer. The teeth of the Kraken scraped along the surface of the planet, opening new canyons, dozens of kilometers deep..not that they would last that long anyways. Several tentacles dug into the ground, feeling the heat of the rocky core. Seizing the planet more firmly than ever before, the creature stuffed it into it's mouth, and thus, ending the existence of Eeloo forever.

Three Hours Later

KSC, Mission Control

YuhkJaG.png

Bobdak Kerman: "All contact lost with Eeloo Probe Team Two, unable to restore contact despite several tries."

Gene: "I'm more concerned about where the frak is Eeloo?!?"

Wehner Kerman: "Nova Six has been confirmed to be inside the Kerbol System, can you get Laythe Station to focus on it?"

Gene: "Laythe Station has found no sign of Eeloo so far, except for a rapidly moving large object heading toward the Jool System. Uncertain of evacuation protocol, so we are ordering them to remain inside the station. Scheduled EVA and landing on Bop has been cancelled until further notice. Jool-9 has been informed of the circumstances, and is taking measures to avoid the worst cases."

Wehner: "No, not the remains of Probe Team Two or Eeloo...order our orbital observatories to focus on Nova Six."

Gene: "Got it. Focusing on Nova Si-WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?"

[PICTURE TO COME]

A supermassive creature appeared on the screen, lashing it's tentacles all over. As if noticing the camera, it quickly moved away from view extremely fast. Gene shouted in terror, dropping his coffee mug to the floor, and fainted. Visibily shaken, Wehner rubbed his eyes. I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm going to wake up in a bed, because this can't be true. The director quickly composed himself and gave out a order.

Wehner: "Mother of Kod! Perform a content scan, NOW!"

Bobdak: "Sir! Heavy trace amounts of ice are on it's...arm thingies!"

Wehner: "Size of this..Nova...creature?"

Johann: "Sir! Gravitational analomy entering Joolian System. What should we do? It's heavily disturbing the orbits of Pol and Bop!"

Wehner: "ORDER THE EVACUATION OF LAYTHE STATION, NOW!"

Johann: "What about Jool-9?"

Wehner: "Scrub everything and begin emergency return to Duna Base Two!"

Johann: "But what about the fuel? They do-"

Wehner: "That's why they're going to Duna, smart guy! Laythe Station HAS the fuel! They come back here!"

Several telephones rang in the Mission Control building, and Wehner rushed to answer them. Grabbing the nearest phone on his desk, he quickly greeted the caller, whoever he-or she, was.

Wehner: "Allo?!"

Madfield: "What the hell is this Nova Six? It's a koddamn organism! How the hell is it out there!"

Wehner: "I have no damned clue!"

Madfield: "I've decided to utilize surface-air missiles should it come to Kerbin! It's too much of a risk!"

Wehner: "Mr..mr President....Eeloo...it's GONE!"

Madfield: "WHAT?"

Wehner: "THE KODDAMNED NOVA SIX...IT MUST HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS!"

Madfield: "Actually, I'm more worried about the fact that my poll rating just dropped to 23%...."

Wehner put down the phone, took a deep breath, and slapped himself in the face before going back to the phone.

Madfield: "I've convinced the UN Head Secretary to begin a emergency assembly of the High Council Members....also, Wehner."

Wehner: "What?"

Madfield: "Get a probe onto that....thing that's out there. Study it. Hopefully, we just might find some new magical way to save Kerbalkind."

Several shrieks sounded off in the main control room, amid the sounds of alarm bells. Aw, great....., thought Wehner.

Wehner: "I'll do it! I have to go!"

*Wehner hangs up*

Gene: "My kod! Pol is gone!"

Chapter Five: Manned Probe (AAR)

Near Munar Space

GgIHghK.png

News Reporter: "Kerman Lunar City has launched a shuttle equipped with a large ion-powered probe on a mission to Nova Six, in order to better understand this...monster that has decminated Jool and Eeloo. Nova Six is currently located near Dres, but the craft will slingshot past Kerbin to gain speed for the rendevous."

The reporter nodded to the anchor, who switched the screens to a live feed of the pilot.

Jebediah Kerman: "This is Major Jebediah Kerman of the Moon Crane III shuttle. We've entered a Kerbin escape velocity, and will continue burning for a rendevous with Nova Six to release the probe. Right beside me is Bill Kerman, who's the payload operator and the specialist. Give him a big round of appaluse, guys!"

*cheers are heard inside the news room*

Jebediah Kerman: "I'm going in!"

Near Nova Six, Moon Crane III Shuttle, a day later.

nbMYtbj.png

Jebediah Kerman: "Probe ready for launch inside payload bay. Apporaching Nova..Six...whatever it's called now..."

Bill Kerman: "Nova Six looks like a over-sized calamari. How many serving....should we just kill it and end world hunger with a calamari feast?"

Jebediah Kerman: "Keep quiet. Whatever it is, don-GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Bill: "I think it just looked at me! Gross!"

Jebediah: "Uhh...Ithink that's a volcano of some sort in a heh..heh...um....gravitational analomy that somehow looks like a-"

Bill: "The tentacle just moved!"

Jebediah: "Screw this! I'm launching the probe!"

Bill: "We're five kilometers from the pllaned launch position!"

Jebediah:*pushing buttons* "I don't care! I'm launching this thing!"

Bill Kerman: *sounds relieved* "Payload secure to release, preparing to loosen umblical fuel cord links."

Jebediah: "Payload released! Probe is on it's way! Let's get th outta here!"

Bill: "Copy that! KURRAH!"

oJZsz2p.png

The probe fell from the cargo bay as the doors closed. Firing it's ion thrusters, the probe headed for Nova Six. The probe swung past Nova Six, and Mission Control watched avidly as the craft began fire it's thrusters, settling into a orbit around the creature. As it entered orbit, Mission Control cheered.

Suddenly, the feeds cut to static, and the data readouts stopped.

xh6m4PF.png

Johann: "Um, Jeb, do you have a visual of the probe?"

Jebediah: "Huh? I got the hell out of there after I released it."

Johann: "Can you detect it with your sensors?"

Jebediah: "I'm picking up some debris, but no prob-oh, crap. I'm coming home, you can't pay me enough to go back! *Jeb goes full throttle on burn* Nova Six is really giving me the creeps!"

Wehner: "Major Jeb! Re-rendevous with Nova Six IMMEDIATELY"

Jebediah: "No way! *cuts mike*"

The atmosphere was tense in the control room. Wehner turned to Johann, and immediately came up with a plan.

Wehner: "Send a manned lander to Nova Six."

Johann: "No way! If if that gives Jebediah the creeps, we'd be better off just evacuating the system!"

Wehner: "Send one anyway. I don't care. We HAVE to make a manned exploration mission...we simply don't have enough time to prepare another probe! That probe, it was our best shot..but I'm afraid we'll have to do a manned landing. I'm going to launch a vessel soon."

Johann: "Sir, the safety-"

Wehner: "Look, we're going to be risking our entire RACE if we don't follow through. I'm going to authorize the launch of a manned vessel."

I know what it is...EXACTLY WHAT IT IS...

EDIT: I just had an idea about how the DSK would really devour a planet/spaceship/etc. thanks to you! Tentacles crush >>> Energy-weapon maw vaporizes matter >>> Repeats until matter is small enough to be manipulated by nanobots in tentacles, molecularly-reconfigured, and utilized in the "body".

Chapter 6: Colony Drops

Near Dres Space,

Loding Kerman: "I see Nova Six in the distance. Preparing for braking burn once we are captured in it's SOI."

Havery Kerman: "Roger that. We've launched from Duna around a day ago, seem's like the creature stalling in the inner solar system. Dunno why, though."

Loding: "We're in it! Fire the engines and BRAKKKKEEEEEE"

MiWsdKL.png

Harvey: "We've entered orbit of...is it Dres or Nova Six?"

Loding: "I think it's Nova Six. We're starting our pass over the nighttime side right now, Mission Control, you with me?"

J1mLmH4.png

Gene: "Yeah man! Copy that! Wehner, is this really a good idea? Wh- No? But it's a dea-Fine, fine... Uh, yeah, you're doing good!

Loding: "Mission Control, or more specifically, Gene, Wehner, and all these officials who names I don't know, does Nova Six seem to have tentacles?"

Gene: "Yeah....light doesn't lie, kid."

Harvey: "Sir, I'm going to start the deorbital and landing burn."

Loding: "Got it! Start it up!"

aem1qA6.png

Loding: "Starting our aerobrake..."

Harvey: "Copy that! Entering Nova Six'es atmosphere.."

Harvey: "Captian, I'm going to eject the transfer stage. You ok with that?"

Loding: "Go ahead"

k6vFygJ.png

Harvey: "Coolant has been ejected from bottom stages of craft, all loose objects have been taped down, I think I see some flames."

Loding: Taking in atmospherical readings.....odd, it's not computing. The atmosphere is a little reddish, don't yah think?"

Harvey: "Yeah....WHAT THE HELL DID WE JUST PASS OVER?"

Unstrapping himself, Loding rushed to the only window of the Cupola pod. The large eye intently watched the small spacecraft as it began it's descent onto Nova Six.

Loding: "Uhh.....Um....This place is freakly...just land, take our samples, and run off!"

Harvey: "Sir! We're going to land on the nighttime side!"

Loding: "Did they put lights on this ship?"

Harvey: "Nooo....crap."

Reaching about 40,000M,the craft began to retrobrake in preparation for landing.

Nmab56T.png

Loding: "Temperatures skyrocketing outside of craft, beginning braking burn"

A fireball streaked across the skies of Nova Six as the craft made a slow and wary descent.

PBCFr0A.png

Harvey: "Nice view of the surface from here. Except it's almost all black close up...odd, the atmosphere somehow makes it look green from above-but it's red! Light des not work this way! What the hell is up with this place?

Loding: "Told ya it gave me the creeps. We aren't staying here for a year.

Harvey: "Uh, does Nova Six have oc-crap!"

The words ENGINE MISSING flashed on the main interface screen for a split second, before all lights shutdown.

Harvey: "Explore the universe, they said...become an astronaut, they said..what a load of BS!"

Loding: "Hold still, we're landing in something that looks liquid-oh, it's a sea of mystery goo."

The craft touched down into the ocean of goo, ripping apart it's legs and destroying it's fuel. Harvey stumbled out of the spacecraft's floating ruins, and watched as the fuel was absorbed by the goo. My life is not going to end well, he thought. The sky began to brighten, as the first beams of Kerbol shone over the horizon. The sea did nothing.

Loding: "Harvey!"

Harvey: "LODING? YOU THERE?"

Loding: "yeah! I got the mainframe computer up, and am I've taken a good picture!"

Loding: "I'm transmitting the picture to Mission Control...done!"

Harvey: "I have a feeling we aren't al-*static*"

Gene: "All contact has been confirmed lost with Nova Six Probe Team One. Awaiting further orders."

Chapter 7: Eating Duna

Duna Base One, Duna

Bob Kerman: "This is Kerbin Return Ship Two, we are preparing to ascent to redezvous with the interplanetary vessel for a return to Kerbin, as with accordance with the evacuation protocol."

Nedbob Kerman: "My kod, can you look at that?"

The Kerbals rushed to the window of the hitchhiker module, watching as Ike was being swallowed by the Kraken.

Bob: "Koddammit! Fire the engines, full thrust, let's get outta here!"

Nedbob: "What about Duna Station?"

Bob: "They've left"

Nebob: "And Ike Station? They didn't evacuate."

Bob paused, and looked toward the Kraken, finishing off the remnants of Ike...and most likely Ike Station with it. The first Kerbal fatalities had occurred.

United Provincial Capitol, Under-Ground Bunker

Madfield: "The Duna Base has confirmed the loss of Dres and Ike earlier this morning, shortly after Probe Team One lose contact."

Advisor: "Yes. And what really stinks is that we can't do anything."

Madfield: "They've renamed Nova Six the Kraken. It's a planet-eating threat to national security."

The President looked into the telecom screen. Around him in the bunker where screens connected to each and every world leader and scientist.

Secretary of GUSN, Komholov: "President Madfield, what solution do you have?"

Madfield: "I don't know. Ask someone else."

Above ground, riots where breaking out in almost every major city on the face of Kerbin. The police and military fired away, helpless to stop the new tidal wave of destruction and looting. Chaos had firmly gripped Kerbin, as the leaders of the world raced to find a solution.

Madfield: "We've sent probes and manned landers, none of which has lasted long. What plan do you have?"

Komholov: "Colonize the Kraken"

Madfield: "You're kidding, right? The last expedition to that planet didn't last an single hour. That's a suicide mission."

Komholov: "The planet water is going to obliterate the system and pulverize our star. The kraken is our destroyer, but we can make it our savior."

Madfield: "No offense, Komholov, but that is one heck of a stupid idea."

Komholov: "Who knows? Maybe they didn't lose contact...maybe their communicatron broke. It's worth a shot."

Emperor Rodey, Robodan Empire: "Hate to say it, Madfield, but I agree with Komholov."

Madfield: "Wait, I got an idea! Let's quickly launch an orbital col-"

His National Security Advisor gentley nudged him in the shoulder. Tears where in his eyes as he looked at Madfield.

National Security Advisor: "Mr President.....Duna..it's gone.."
