Multiple Kerbals EVA - how?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've seen a lot of YouTube videos of KSP showing multiple Kerbals outside a craft and I wonder how that's done?

All I know of is to click "EVA" and then ONE Kerbal is outside. At this point I cannot do anything else other than maneuver the Kerbal.

If, by chance, I'm on orbit and the EVA goes bad (i.e. I lose control and the ship drifts away), my only recourse to keep playing is to turn on infinite fuel, deorbit the Kerbal (!!), then go to the tracking station and "fly" the craft (minus one occupant of course).

Is there some trick I'm missing, or is there an official documentation file that I can RTFM? conf44.gif

(Yes I have searched Google BTW).

Thank you.

The Kerbal should also show up in the tracking station if he is still alive..... Also, if you get really far away from the ship, just turn on his RCS pack and look straight at the ship and press W. Pick up some speed and remember to slow down with S or turn around and use W. I have returned a kerbal from a ship that collided with a station, he was 20km away, he made it safely. It is definitely faster to return the kerbal to the ship rather than deorbit him...I can't imagine how long that took you. Good luck!

When I de-orbit a Kerbal, they end up dead, I assure you. biggrin.gif

If your Kerbal is too far away it's easier to switch to the ship, select the Kerbal in map view and make a rendezvous using the ship. The reason is, there is navball in the ship which will tell you which direction your target is, what the relative speed is and in which direction. Much easier to catch up. When you get close enough, switch back to the Kerbal and get him in using his jetpack fuel.
