Lucchese, if you gave some level of information in your previous post, people would be able to help you. As is, it looked more like a half-hearted troll attempt.

1) You don't specify HOW it doesn't work. Does the menu not show up ingame? Does it show, but only filled with a text error?

2) What mods do you have installed?

The comment was frustrating, but I don't consider it troll-ish.

I'm guessing that Lucchese is getting the "something went horribly wrong..." message after starting the game. I was seeing the same error before I thought to restart the game a couple times with the mod still installed (before, I had pulled it after each "error" rather than troubleshoot). Starting up the game one more time finally showed the mod listing and the update feature worked first try.

Try it again Lucchese, and try starting, closing, and restarting with the mod still installed. it may just work. ;)

Didnt know what other info I could give, I thought it would be clear the update window only shows up in the main menu and stated that I believed it to be my way of installing.

But thank you. Really. :/

The problem is probably that the directory you keep ksp in is write-protected. Turn that off. (I use Steam, and when I turned write protection off on the \steamapps\Kerbal Space Program folder this message disappeared)

The updater doesn't work for me either. I once tracked it down to a specific mod that apparently causes the Updater to surrender entirely, but I can't recall right now which one it was. Suggestion: Move out mods of your gamedata folder until the Updater works again. Then you'll know which mod is causing it. Or go the other way around: Move ALL mods out of KSP, test if KSPUpdater works then (it probably will), then move in mods back one by one (or batch by batch) until you figure out the culprit.

Some thoughts:

More explicit installation instructions would be appreciated. Having a folder with a single folder inside named "Plugins" and no install instructions could very well end up with people putting your mod in the legacy plugins folder.

It says "something went horribly wrong" if it couldn't find any plugins.

It would be appreciated if you could add mod(s) from the main menu directly from spaceport links. As it is, if you have a new mod you wish to add you have to install it and then go back to the spaceport link and copy/paste it into the right folder. Similarly, if it automatically pasted your current clipboard into the text box I would appreciate it.

Renaming mods would be appreciated.

Could you add an option to hide a mod? The "squad" folder bugs me...

It hangs at 99% downloaded for a while with larger mods. I'm assuming it's because it's extracting from the zip, but that sort of thing should generally be done in a separate thread?

Regarding the "how do you know mods have changed" thing: check if a specific page title has changed. If it has, try redownloading the mod and check if it is different.

Or, if you're feeling ambitious, use a binary search.

I imagine this mod and the mod experience in general will change greatly once the spaceport is updated. At the moment it's just as efficient to simply keep a spreadsheet of my current mods and version #s/dates since a huge portion of them either aren't on the spaceport currently, or don't update there.

Looking forward to the mod scene once this game is fully released. Yikes! :)

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
