Support for open-source linux drivers

Recommended Posts

I think the title says enough. And yes, before you even go saying that there are methods for installing the old compatible proprietary drivers (fglrx-legacy), Steam won't open if you have them on and the same goes for KSP as well. And, contrary to the windows install, going to the installation folder and clicking on KSP in there won't open the game.

"steam won't open if you have them on", so it's a steam issue and anything launched via steam then also won't work.

Complain to steam... Or better yet, fix the open source drivers so they implement the required APIs and don't assume everyone limits themselves to the subset of features that the OSS driver creators think are useful.

That would be a valid statement IF ATI themselves didn't removed features from their PROPRIETARY linux drivers and also dropped support for "old" cards in the latest releases. nVidia does that as well.

And also, do you really think that EVERYONE that uses linux knows how to code or implement stuff into kernel drivers?

If you don't, why are you using linux?

What this has to do with anything? Those elitist fallacies are bull**** at best. Then let's take all users that can't program jack **** and give them iDevices!

If you're not intending to shed some light on this, why the hell are you even bothering to post in this thread?

Sorry to burst your bubble, chum, but it's not 1995 anymore; Linux distros that require a degree in Computer Science to get any use out of are now a distinct minority, and you don't even need the command-line for basic operations in most of them.
