Brand new to KSP!

Bought it during the sale, never thought I could get into the technical side!

9 hours later, career mode I manage to get into orbit of Kerbin with a hell of a lot of help from a tutorial! I spent like, 4-5 hours pissing about with my rocket to have enough fuel for the return! Gave up in the end, looked up a tutorial. I amassed a lot of SCIENCE(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and have (apparently) the capabilities to go to the Mun, my issue is that I barely knew how to get into Kerbin's orbit and struggle with that side of things, not particularly building as I can always google "moon lander and return with xxx parts"

Just asking for some help on the whole orbiting, re-entry...it's all very confusing!

Cheers

Welcome to the forums! :)

Glad to hear that you've been enjoying the game so far. As for tutorials, I maintain a list of what I consider to be some of the more high-quality ones at the Drawing Board, which is linked to in my signature. In particular, you might want to check out this tutorial for a quick, illustrated introduction to how orbits work and how you can manipulate them with your rocket to your advantage. Feel free to ask questions in the Gameplay Questions and Tutorials subforum, as well.

Hope this helps!

Welcome aboard!

Specialist there beat me to the punch, but yes, look around the guides section. Lotsa good stuff there. Youtube also has a few guides that help as well. Yet, don't feel bad about struggling, its tough to wrap your brain around all the stuff needed to land that shiny bit of metal on the Mun, but once you do you feel awesome! Getting to a new planet in KSP is one of the best feelings because of how crazy hard it seems that first time. :)

Experiment, don't be afraid of failure, have fun, and always remember to add moar struts.
