Get out and push!

Recommended Posts

Welcome to my second ever challenge!

The GET OUT AND PUSH challenge.

In this challenge your mission is to see how far you can go with the unlimited amount of jet pack fuel stored in all the command pods, Simplicity in a nut shell.

Da rules

You can use whatever launch means you want but you must have a stable orbit under 200,000 before you can start.

You may have two command pods/ and they can separate.

You can build any kind of craft you want but the only propulsion you can use is 100 units of RCS fuel with any amount of blocks you want, and your jet pack :).

No debug, part clip is ok.

Give us the prof! screen shots of your ventures.

Achievements!/points

  • That was easy-get yourself in to space/ 10
  • A little higher- double you’re starting orbit/10
  • "ITs well... grey.... and bumpy."- get to the muns soi/20
  • Minmulist- get to minmus soi/ 20
  • Have a nice walk- land on minmus/ 40
  • And it’s out of here! - leave kerbin SOI
  • don’t need no fancy equipment. - reach duna SOI/40
  • A little Curiosity.-have an orbit less than 150,000 around duna/50
  • purple is the new black! - reach eve SOI/40
  • H2OOOOOOO- have an orbit around eve less than 200,000/50
  • It’s getting hot in here. - perform an aero brake/10
  • It’s biggy!-reach jool SOI/50
  • my favorite color! - reach jool orbit/100
  • we can breathe here?-land on lethye/150 (warning showstopper)
  • More may come soon if I get 5+ participants!

When counting score just use points not the achievement names (saves space)

Similar challenge, although only about the Kerbal, not the pod.

With a light pod you can push it anywhere and if parachutes are allowed then Laythe, Eve and Duna are no problem. RCS only landing should be viable on Bop, Pol, Gilly and Ike. I'll have to go try but I'd hazard a guess that you might be able to land on Eeloo and Dres with RCS after deorbiting and staying slowed down with your rocketpack.

You might have to rethink your showstopper, Tidus Klein.

Show stopper only means there is no way to come back after landing, any planet you land on with an atmosphere is a showstopper.

so eve, duna, jool, eloo, any planet you cant eva to orbit.

and it is only my second challenge give me some slack. :)

here is the first one.

Fair enough on the showstopper definition. Figured you meant it'd be a definite winner type of thing. Oh and Eeloo doesn't have an atmosphere, so it'd only be Eve, Duna and Laythe. Can't land on Jool last I heard.

I had a start on this challenge, I found out that pushing is extremely tedious if you want to go places (and not just do a minor correction). I ended up leaving my 'lander' in Kerbin orbit after a bit of pushing and just went off with my kerbal on his own. So far landed on Pol, gonna do Bop and Vall, then see if I wanna do any more interplanetary adventures.

But yeah, pushing a craft is just tedious and more about pure time spent than skill. I'll bow out and just post my EVA adventures in the other challenge. Which to be fair is still mostly about time spent since infinite fuel is toggled.
