Fastest Pilot Challenge

Recommended Posts

leafty is sad because is named is mistyped.

My fourth screenshot show 36:35 like 700NitroXpress said which is not what the log says. I don't care about the 2 seconds but I thought I was at full stop. A bit odd.

Time continues to run even when you stop, that's why you have to be quick. If you wait at all once you stop on the runway, it still adds time.

Whhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????? This is something new to me and after i sleep off the turkey will verify.

Name Fixed Leafty :)

Yeah, time doesn't start until you fire the engines, and it never stops even if the craft stops moving. The mission timer only stops when the craft gets recovered or no longer exists.

Time doesn't start until you leave the ground. You can get a few seconds by using all of the runway to gain speed.

Too bad there's no quicksave in atmosphere. So far I failed my landing twice and I am not sure if I want to invest another half an hour to another attempt.

JFK

I choose to do this challenge because its hard.

There are 5 parts seems to me

1. getting as much speed on runway as possible on take off

2. getting up to speed and altitude as fast as possible

3. maintaining the speed of a mo'fkin fireball

4. were you decide to break off speed and vector towards KSC

4. sticking the landing

Well, the speed on the runway won't really affect much, getting up to max altitude and max air speed is key, then you have to descend at just the right time and land on the runway as fast as possible.

KSP Is all about an investment in time. But dollar for dollar i have got more game time out of ksp then any other game.

  • 3 months later...

Hmmm, I think a rebuild of one of my Maching Machines should do for this (got hacked off and deleted all my saves recently in prep for ARM, but can re-create some in sandbox to partake in challenges still!)

Only Mod I use is MechJeb, I would switch to Kerbal Engineer or whatever it is, but I am on mobile innternet for now so can't download (just browse and chat and stuff... if I were to download, I would get charged a rediculous amount!) BUT, I will show in the screenshots that I will not use the spaceplane autopilot... I will only use it for the info screens ;)

Arn - watch this space!
