Realistic Ship Parts

So I just saw Gravity and on the way home I was wondering about how some of the parts shown in the movie (Especially parts of the ISS and the Shenzhou capsule that splits three ways and re-enters into Kerbins…Ummm...Earth's atmosphere might be a pretty cool thing in KSP).

Now...I was searching around for this on Google for the last 45 minutes or so and couldn't really find anything except for this:

(Have yet to test and seems kinda dated.)

So...I wanted to start a thread about "realistic" parts in KSP, maybe just start a list of stuff that already exists and if it doesn't gather people that might want to see this and attract the attention of some Modders? I'd give it a go myself but unfortunately lack the modding skills to actually finish a project like that. (Though I could probably still try...)

So yea...Mods that include more realistic parts/ parts that look almost the same as real life space ship/ station parts do. Go!

You say you like the way the Soyuz CM and HM separates before reentry? You sir need to check out Bobcats's work. It's probably the largest parts pack KSP has. ( same guy who made that ISS pack though its long been out dated )

I'm not a guy, but I'll take your "Sir" And thank you I'll check it out. But it already looks awesome :3

I'll have to try it out...though my KSP will probably die on me if I install any more mods :c *sigh* time to prioritize again. But thanks for that ^-^

KATETheAwesome lol my apologies. But yes its also a MASSIVE memory hog. The largest one there is. I pick and choose what parts I want. For instance right now Im just using the Soyuz TMA and N1 parts. I got rid of all the shuttle, progress, and LOK parts. ( though I highly recommend a Mun mission with the LOK its a blast. Especially sending it up on the N1 ) You get to see what a successful soviet moon mission would've looked like. And something about seeing the N1 fly.. is just brilliant.

No worries :') I've been called a dude more times than I can count^^ And well...I do hope that Unitiy adds/ fixes their 64bit support soon so that KSP can be made compatible. But I'll probably throw out some parts of B9 as it doesn't really fit into my whole "realism" concept I'm currently doing.

Use rbray89's texture compression mod. That will help. Also, BobCat is redoing the Soviet Pack, and part of it will be to finally share textures to save memory.

Other "real parts" packs:

KOSMOS: TKS (VA/FGB) and Salyut parts

FASA: American historical craft (Gemini, Advanced Gemini, Mercury, Atlas soon)

Component Space Shuttle (has issues...)

Lionhead Aerospace (Viking, Voyager, MSL...)

lovad's World Space: Saturn 5, Japanese launchers, etc.

Space Factory: Vostok, N-1, PPTS

Real-looking parts:

Sumghai's Fustek Station Parts Expansion and SDHI Service Module

KW Rocketry

Though they're not parts (except stretchy tanks [which feature real-rocket-looking textures]) you might also want the mods in my sig. And FAR, obviously!
