Can some one point me on some info regarding materials?

For example, if is possible to make glass like semi transparent material and glowing material? Or if is possible to apply normal maps to parts (I can see normal mapping used on planet when you are far from it).

Tnx.

No normal maps for mod parts, its simple UVMaps for now. The game itself does use them for the planets, though, you\'re right.

UVMaps does allow for transparancy by using the alpha channel of PNGs, so you can do simple things.

Unfortunately, as of right now the game only supports fully transparent or fully opaque parts with any type of image editing program. Single-bit transparency or something is what it\'s called. Glowing materials would only be possible for the entire part as you would have to set the specular settings in the config file.

Of course, like Tiberion said, you can use it in a basic method for transparent parts and say, put parachute cables on a fully transparent cone.

At least, this is what I think. Correct me if I\'m wrong.

That is correct. Currently the texture process is quite basic. You can have fully visible, or completely transparent textures. And there\'s not a feature currently for emissive maps/normal maps. You could however, overlay your bake onto your texture (looks great, too!)

The planet, I believe, is fully lod. But you\'d have to ask someone more versed in it, than I. :D

Tnx guys for info... I was hoping that is at least possible to make semitransparent material using alpha channel in texture (not just full transparency).

Regarding 'glowing' material, I was aiming for glowing parts of ship to get something like this:

and this (windows):
