@Spartwo:

You can allways throw a dice...

Don't have a better Idea.

Endeavor it is.

What will most likely be the lightest rover/skycrane in the listings.Science tools not included, although they were in a pre .22 version because the craft uses high tech parts at the end of the tech tree(It does have a thermometer and antenna).with a relatively complicated descent stage.

-Detach interplanetary stage.

-parachute deploy+heatshield detach.

-Parachute detach(pictured)

-Skycrane detach.

(launcher included,Ignore it because it's not part of the stock craft)

Mun landing:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60579-BSC-Rover-Skycrane-start-building%21/page7

Duna landing:

I did 6 missions in a row between submitting and when the voting opened, only one failed.

Good catch, This affects my rover, don't forget to switch command to the probe after detaching it.

Hello everyone! Here is my entry, the SkyBug Mk1! It can land on Duna, Mun, Laythe and maybe anywhere else lighter than Duna, as descending down to Laythe was hard since I came down at 2500m/s!. This is my first challenge entry ever, so tell me if I did something wrong! I really like the other entries, by the way! Tested on Duna, Kerbin, Laythe. (But didn't try to go to Mun...)

Hope you enjoy playing with it!

Usage hint! For maximum fuel efficiency try to dive directly down in the atmosphere using your interplanetary stage then land (safe enough, since I did it on Duna.) But on the mun It probably can deorbit and land.

Hello, guys. Kerbals decided to establish the first base on the Mun. It's a test base on the nearest satellite, since they need some experience before building outpost on the faraway planets. Kerbonauts requested a rover to roll around the base, so I present you Test object Mk. XIV, a manned tough car-shaped rover, stuffed with scientific equip.

[ imgur ] [ /imgur ] without spaces on both sides of the underlined part.

<iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/Vj1je/embed"></iframe>

You can pick that piece of string string from your browser's address line, it usually looks like this:

Just don't forget to strip the eventual picture number, i.e. use Vj1je, not Vj1je#0 etc.

a.k.a. finding a use for LV-1 engines

So, I finally had some time to tinker before the deadline hits. This is the result; can be used both kerballed and unkerballed (r.i.p. grammar) :D

Technical specifications:

  • transfer stage

    Mass: 6,117 kg including skycrane

    delta-V: 1510 m/s

    TWR on Kerbin: 0.83

  • skycrane

    Mass: 3,242 kg

    delta-V: 1312 m/s

    TWR on Kerbin: 0.57

    on the Mun: 3.41

Duna: 1.89 (2.40 after heatshield separation)

Minmus: 9.01, but the design is not practical to use there

Features an easily detachable heat shield, separate guidance units for descent and ground ops, angled solar panels so your rover can function even with the sun low on horizon, a full scientific sensor complement (4), 500+ electric charge for transmissions and a light in case it develops any fears of the dark.

It's entirely possible to operate without as much as touching an action group, but I've included some for ease of operation :P

1
toggles motors and steering on all rover wheels (so they don't use up electricity unneccessarily)

2
toggles motors and steering on the middle set of wheels. Use when needed.

3
extends/retracts antennae and toggles the rovers' probe torque

4
extends/retracts solar panels on the transfer stage

It's quite easy to operate, but if you have any fuel left in the transfer stage at Duna, I advise to use it for killing a bit of horizontal velocity before hitting the lower atmosphere layers. Without this, you will need to correct a bit in case the skycrane wants to do a spin^^

Presenting... the Columba-A!

>Relatively simple design.

>Fairly lightweight.

>Pretty easy to fly.

>Can land with or without a drogue 'chute.

>Four sensors provide plenty of science.

>Nuclear power provides infinite driving.

>Really, really tough (capable of losing its bottom half, three wheels, the antenna, a light, a solar panel and two sensors... and just keeps driving.)

>Carries four Kerbals, without their heads clipping through each other or the skycrane.
