Quick questions

Hi all

Played the demo and liked it, before I buy:

- If my old laptop runs the game (as far as building a rocket and launching with a few stages) adequately (a little lag when you first go to the launch pad, maybe a touch when launching but nothing that makes it unplayable) will I be ok with the rest of the game? Basically does it get more resource heavy when you go to the Mun etc... ? And I suppose are we expecting later updates to need a better computer?

- If I buy from the website in dollars, will the game run in the UK? Stupid question I suspect these days but I want to be sure...

Thanks all!

Well, the Mun should be okay, but getting to the other planets is much farther, and may require the building of a rocket that will bring your computer to its knees. The more parts, the more lag, generally speaking.

And yes, the game will run regardless of where it is. It doesn't have any kind of DRM attached. :)

On the first question... It depends on your style. My ships tend to be around 200 parts. On the other hand, I'm sure that you can manage to get pretty much anywhere with only a hundred parts at a time (though you'd need to do a TON of docking). Comes down to your play style.

And yes, game is workable anywhere. It's a simple .exe file structure, deliciously DRM-free.

Well, it's not for a reason of DRM, but on Windows, DEP (Data Execution Prevention) causes weird things if it's saved to certain locations (desktop, for example). But yeah, play from hard drive, play from jump drive, play in UK or US or on the Moon if you can get there, it doesn't matter.

Lag-wise, some of the worst is looking right at Kerbin's ocean (though I hear that 0.23, coming very shortly, has remedied that), so getting out into space and other bodies can help performance.

It depends.

I've built rockets that have landed on the furthest planets with less than 100 parts at launch. I'm sure it is possible with much less. (I did have all the science stuff on)

But you will miss out on some things if you can't get higher part counts. Its hard to build space stations or land rovers with few parts.

Test to see how many hundreds of parts makes your game unplayable. Anything less than 150 and I wouldn't recommend it.

The main bottleneck of this game is the CPU, which gets brought down by big ships.

That didn't change since the demo. So if your laptop can handle that now, it will be able to handle it in the full game.

You do have much more reason to build really big ships in the full game though.

If anything, the game will only get optimized more eventually, which will improve performances.

PS: you're going to love the full version. Just don't try to land on Eve. It's extremely difficult to get back home again (massive gravity)

Could we see your Computer specs? You can find most of them on windows by typing "Dxdiag" ( No quotations) in the run box .

( Keyboard shortcut: Windows button+R)

As for the price 27 USD would be about 16.50 British Pounds. Maybe a tad more.

No matter how Powerful your PC is, it will eventually lag if you have enough parts. Squad will of course improve the speed of the game over time.
