Umanned probes, science, and life support.

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that some of the recent posts have revolved around how unmanned probes took a first hit when 0.22 came out (unammed probes can't do as many experiments as manned ones can), and now in 0.23 they took another hit (lack of science spamming and more emphasis on returning experiments).

This led me to wonder how to remedy this problem. The remedy comes from why real science missions don't always involve real people. You need life support for the humans on-board, which costs weight, space, and most importantly, fuel. Therefore, I would like to start a discussion on how well a life support system would effectively shorten the gap between manned and unmanned missions.
