Tattoos ?

I'm covered in tattoos, being a biker and kind of outlaw type of person.

My favourite one is the gothic letters on my stomach which says " F___ The World " - it's a biker thing...

But I am a secret geek and I think my next tat will be a Feynman diagram.

Do any of you have tattoos, or are you all Bronies ? :D

My problem with getting a tattoo is that you have to pick a design that you are sure you will like for the rest of your life. I can not think of anything that I am guaranteed to like the rest of my life, so I will not get a tattoo. I have quite some friends that do though, and I am fine with that. Two of them asked me to design a tattoo for them, which I think is a great honour. Some friends have to be a bit careful where they get them - one is a teacher for instance - but I guess that is how it works in society.

From an aesthetics point of view I often feel they are just like stickers, randomly stuck to a person. If they are really designed to complement the body and add to it, rather than being a decal which seems to have no connection with the body it is on, I often like them much more. I am very much a graphics kind of guy and some designs are really excellent. A lot are pretty mundane, though.

They can be very nice, even ****, but most of the time they're disgusting, stupid and tacky, and lots of people who want them are immature or their reasons are based on various complexes and wish to induce fear because they can't establish respect by having a fair, correct attitude and actually doing good stuff that would show others they are worth of something. So when they fail at that, they try to pull off that "I'm so dedicated to stuff that I permanently marked myself with what I believe in, durrrrr". Bollocks.

I saw a lot of negative cases and only a few cool inked folks.

I do have a problem with permanent modification of my own body. One of the reasons is that I don't like the idea of becoming identifiable via such thing. No, I'm not a criminal. :)

If someone invents a method that would allow high quality, long term resistant tattoos that can be removed with ease and no consequences, I'd probably experiment with huge areas of skin and wear it for a long time.

(oh god, I can't believe this forum censors the word s_-e_-x_-y. )

The first tattoo I got was to honor my first black belt. The design was given to me by one of the greatest karateka in our time: Tatsuo Suzuki, dan hanshi. He was also the one who supervised the exam, which is a tremendous honor.

The second is a sleeve in honor of my passed away sister. I designed this myself and also made sure it's not visible when I'm dressed.

I always keep them to myself, there are only a handful of people who know me that know I actually have them. I never felt the need to show them off; they're very personal to me.
