A Dead Mod.

Uh. No, the engines are still wobbly. I have changed many a config, and I have concluded that it is problem with the stock parts, not my own.

Thanks BTW. I want to make a few panels, but most of them will probably end up in DC Aerospace, not this mod. The largest will probably be about double the size of a gigantor, but that's because it is meant to be the main power source for the Capricorn, which will be ~3.75m wide, and carry about 10 kerbals in style and luxury (what counts for it anyway) to laythe or duna.

One thing that might be causing you wobble is the collision meshes intersecting slightly. Try bringing the ends of the cylinders that touch each other inside their respective meshes a bit. If they are autoconnected based on just the connection nodes, perhaps they wont be thinking they have parts crashing/intersecting all the time.

Just an idea, I have no idea if it will fix anything, i'm still new to KSP physics. :X

Oh no. The collision meshes don't intersect at all. The actual collider on the Volkom Lower Stage is a simple cylinder, about 30 cm shorter than it should be. The Radial mounts on the side don't actually have a collider. That does offer a simple way to fix wobble though. I found that you can just put a few hidden struts inside the "Nosecone Mounts", and attatch them to the engines.

Also, the stuff you are producing is really amazing. Where did you learn to model like that, and in what program?

Damn, thought that would at least reduce some of the problem. The stiffness of joints is one of my least favorite aspects of KSP. I'm glad that the developers have realized that finally, and are going to implement a workaround/tweak for it in their next release. No more spaghetti rockets (unless you set it up deliberately)!

I worked for a group of modders on the Angels Fall First project for various games (Homeworld2, Nexus Jupiter incident, Unreal engine). I was their lead concept artist, and one of the lead modeler/texture artist taught me cinema4d. Before then, i only had experience with Maya (i hated it, and gave up trying to model because of the UI), but cinema4d was such an easy program to get into, i decided I really wanted to do this modeling thing...so I got a degree in animation/webdesign, where we used 3dstudio Max, and XSI.

The meshes I've been making lately have been in c4d, but realistically, they can be done in any number of programs. I just like the customizability that it offers.

Wow. I'm guessing dual monitors? (Although, I think I have you beat even if you had triple. My monitor is ~42 Inch TV Screen.)

Is Cinema 4D Free? I don't have a job (15), so I can't afford to spend that much. Most of what I have done is in blender and Paint.net, with some Gimp in there too.

Cinema4d is defiantly not free by any stretch of the imagination. Last time I checked it was a couple thousand dollars. But being an Adult*(25) with child's mind lets me afford these absurdly expensive toys.

Blender is as far as I can tell, a fairly strong application to use for game dev, because it does everything. Just not as well as specialized applications. The fact that it has a huge community helps as well, but I've never been able to get past it's arse-backwards implementation of even basic tools. Maybe it's gotten better in the past several releases, but I've no reason to go and relearn it.

Sorry for derailing your thread! >_>

I look forward to the new solar panels. I always liked the look of massive solar arrays on spacecraft. It's that nice balance of raw power and delicate beauty. (and then a kerbal on EVA crashes through one, and makes it look like a gimped moth)

Hello there peoples of the interwebs! Forum-dwellers and Bloggernauts! This ain't dead! So, as a progress report, here ya go:

The Draco has finally, ever-so-painfully, been textured well, and simply needs to be re-imported into unity then re-exported to .MU . Seriously, it felt like the universe was working against myself and Metalmouth7 on that one. He was about to finish it, then his laptop got fried, and it took weeks to get it back to working order. So here we go, the Draco is 80% done. Now it's up to the internal, and finishing the Volkom.
